I think that this effect is pretty overstated now since the recent purge of voters who haven't covered the game recently. But at the same time I suppose it only takes one.

Being a relief pitcher all but guarantees that Rivera won't be unanimous. The Hall of Fame has generally been too generous in voting relievers in, but not with particularly high percentages.

No because of off field problems
no because he wasn't the most loved person outside of NY.

Rivera was a reliever.
Jones was in a "small" market.
Jeter has warts that SOMEONE will use as an excuse.

100% correct, and if it doesn't happen for Jeter it just won't happen ever. All three of these guys deserve 100%.
