How short will Vogey's leash be tonight? 2 base-runners after the 3rd, 1 base-runner after the 5th?

Who is first out of the Pen? Petit? Timmeh? Peavy?

I hope Guppy does well tonight, but he is terrible from the leadoff spot. Have heard and read about him hitting .298 against LHP this season.

But leading off a game, his career numbers are .165/.254/.233

In addition, Panik hits 100+ points higher with a runner on 1st than with the bases empty.

This team needs to get the early lead. It makes no sense to me, none, nada, zilch to continue to have Guppy hit leadoff. May Noggin's wisdom and Guppy's play prove me wrong. I haven't had a decent meal of crow in a while. Meaning at least a day or two. :D

Opie pitches a one hitter through 6 and looks untouchable. Gives up three runs in the 7th (and the lead) and the Tards are still batting.

His post season ERA is lowered a little to 5.12. If this score holds, his post season record will be 1-5.

Regular season stud.

Post-season dud.

<300 career ABs is not enough to even discuss situational splits. Although, I would assume that most punch n' judy hitters would have similar situational splits. A man on 1st opens a HUGE hole on the right side of the infield to shoot one through.

We don't need an explosion in this game. I think 3 runs gives us an amazing chance to win, and 4 runs just about pops the Champaign.

Now, at least if the Giants don't win it, I can still fall asleep at night counting backward to 1988...

It is a SSS to be sure, but it isn't 50 at bats. I'd have to do some checking on other #2 hitters to see their splits. Who are the top 5 two hitters in the game? I'd start there.

Agreed on the runs scored. But we need to score first.

With the Cards in (for the 4th consecutive year and 7th time in 11 years -- OMG), here's hoping for round 4..

The Giants are current up 2-1 in the Series of Series' (lost in '87, won in '02 and '12)

Dodgers losing won't matter if we can't win this series. 3-1 series loss to the Cardinals is not as bad as being up 2-0 with next two at home, and losing the series.

Have to win this series to have any "bragging rights"

Cards are so solid every year.

I might be the only Giant fan that was hoping to see the Dodgers win that series. A Giant/Nationals vs. Dodgers series would have had much more intrigue.
