I haven't found out for certain why he missed it yet, but my secret sauces say he was getting a penicilin shot in the weenie
Here's my question: Why the huge emphasis on innings and not on pitches? Isn't there a lot of science that could go into this but both teams and writers seem to take the cheap way out and make the focus on innings counts when you could throw anywhere from 12-40 pitches in an average inning?Boras is a tool and Harvey is a bigger one for listening to him. Ask Steven Drew about Boras' advice. Innings are meaningless, especially when you're Harvey who averaged amongst the fewest pitches per inning this year. All the "medical data" is guess work. They managed his innings and pitches effectively this year and Boras submarined them with that press release.
Alderson commented on it and didn't even say if they spoke to him. Very strange.
Mets general manager Sandy Alderson acknowledged Harvey was not there.
"I'm not sure of the explanation," Alderson said.
He added: "Until we find out a little more about his absence I prefer not to comment."

Now he's saying he was caught in traffic in the tunnel, called and they told him to go home.
Translation = I slept late.

Which makes it an even easier argument for the Mets to make.Same question I have. Harvey averaged amongst the fewest pitches per inning.
Weather was absolute shit Thursday night. The game will sell out. I have to admit I stopped going after they opened the new stadium after years of ticket plans. No atmosphere.
Correcked. This = why the Mets kept saying "it was a SOFT 180 innings cap!" He has definitely not been overworked.
Again, this team has been so careful to avoid another Generation K debacle. They're actually doing the right thing for a change, and they're STILL getting pushback from Arli$$
They have priced all the fans out of that new ballpark. It's been a recurring theme since it opened. But the Goldman Sachs folks will show up tonight, for sure.
You should be pissed already. If they could pitch Harvey more than once in the series they'd pitch him game 2 which would have him on regular rest for game 5 if they needed him. They would also be able to pitch the Viking game 3 at home where he is MUCH better.
A Ranger who retired during the off season. I missed that piece of info until after the draft.
