odds to win it all:suds:

  • Royals: 22.2 percent
  • Cardinals: 16.7 percent
  • Blue Jays, Dodgers: 14.3 percent
  • Mets: 11.1 percent
  • Yankees: 10.0 percent
  • Astros, Pirates: 7.7 percent
  • Cubs: 6.7 percent
  • Rangers: 3.2 percent

I'd like to see what the Pirates or Cubs odds would jump to after one of them wins that WC game tomorrow.

Yeah, yeah, one of them drops to zero, hardy-har-har...I'm talking about the winner!

which do you prefer? one wild card team like old or the two wildcards with the one game elimination?

I didn't like the two wild cards at first, but now I think it's great. Cubs v. Pirates is pretty epic tomorrow and wouldn't have even happened under the old system. Yankees v. Astros??? Meh.

Not only that, but he's been The Voice of Reason in that clubhouse. I really have to say, I'm impressed with how he has gone about this season. Really kept his nose clean.

Props.

But he's the one that got CC hooked on the sauce!

All true. But Kuechel is on short rest and anything can happen in one game. You know that.

Yeah still not feeling confident though. I think we got a 35-40% to win.

Word. I love the new "poor little small market team from the bronx" attitude these Yankee fans are taking.

Dirt was telling us the other day how "everyone" picked against the Yankees at the beginning of season and "everyone" said they'd come in last place.

I said all along that I thought the AL East could finish in any order this year and it wouldn't have surprised me. The Yankees did overachieve considering how it looked going into the season. That said, I've seen the media trying to spin Arod as a sympathetic character this year, so spinning the Yankees as "the little engine that could" makes sense in that context.

I'm being realistic

No, you're being pessimistic, which I don't think there's a lot of space for in fandom.

Believe it or not, tonight would not be the first time an underdog won a baseball game.

I stand behind my statement that if they win, you should be done cheering for them for the year.

Remember at the beginning of the season Yankee fans be all like "void his contract! Arod impugned the integrity of the game!!!!!"

Now Yankee fans be all like "Go Arod - 33 homers - he's a true professional!!!"

So true. When Arod showed up in Spring Training they didn't even want him on the field. Then it was the whole "Arod has to make the team" BS from Cashman. Pretty funny in hindsight. He might have been their best player this year.

It's just like Trainspotting! Workout Dood was all "I ain't doing that shit" and his junkie friends got him addicted, then the junkie friends got OFF the Smack, and Workout boy died of AIDS or something.

Plus, they stole his video of him boinking that hot-for-a-Scots-Lass chick

Hu, is there any angst over Boras pretty-much dictating the Mets' playoff rotation? I know DeGrom is no slouch, but Harvey would start game one under normal circumstances. Now they only get to use him once in that series. That's BS.

I think the Royals are certainly capable of winning it all, but I'm a little surprised to see them favored. Due to that, uhm. . . err. . . . pitching staff of theirs.

Yeah, but the good thing about the new format as it relates to NYY & HOU is that NYY doesn't have a "free pass" to the playoffs. 2nd place teams should not be on equal footing as division winners.

I agree 100%. I like the new format a lot. Just not excited about that particular game.

If the Pirates win the WC game, I could see them going all the way. I'm not totally sold on the Cubs, but I do think the Cards have already peaked.
