Betting lines are for degenerate gamblers.

They also tend to be accurate the majority of the time. Hence, why said degenerate gamblers lose money and sportsbooks take it.

Strange that it defaults to postseason. Most people aren't looking for that.

It has done that since I can remember and always makes me change filters. Not just one site either. ESPN, NFL, etc. They are all setup like that and every post-season I curse them for it while I'm trying to google shit.

Rooting for Mahomes.

I think Fat Bastard is becoming somewhat of a loveable character...what problem do you have with him?
Andy is the man. Only degenerates don't like him.

I have no dog in this (Lamar) hunt, so I'm not rooting for either team in particular. I'm just going by what I went by this weekend - correctly I might add - which is the Chiefs and Niners handled their opponents quite handily. However, I see no realistic stopping or even slowing down of Mahomes and his crew. The Niners are probably the most balanced team overall that the Chiefs will have faced, but I just don't see them reining him in. Above all, I'm rooting for a really good game tho. Having company over to watch, making my world famous chili, which of course will be washed down with lots of good beer, so a good game will make it that much more fun.

Of course my inaccurate post blows up ....:L 49rs D I stand by though, I think that will be the difference... Gonna be cool seeing how Mahomes handles the pressure...

So are you saying we have ALMOST the number ranked offense vs ALMOST the number one ranked defense? PE1 is gonna have a field day with this thread.

Stats don't lie...

If he wasn't going against my team I'd be rooting for Reid to finally get a championship.

I'd love to see Joe Stately for the 9ers to get a ring as well. Great guy and teammate and he stuck through a lot of the 9ers dark times.

Shame Frank Gore isn't a 9er still as he'd be another one I would've wanted to see get a ring.

Both teams are on the young side so not a whole lot of guys that are in that "would like to see get a ring" status yet.

That stat shows you how important the battle of the trenches will be.

All the talk is of the 9ers rushing 4 but I suspect with 2 weeks of prep time you'll see them blitz a little more from different angles to put further pressure on Mahomes and the offensive line.

IMO the big key for SF's D...can they consistently pressure Mahomes with the down 4 and put 7 in coverage? If they can I like SF's chances a lot because they will be able to run the ball on KC. On the flipside, if KC gets up early and SF has to go to Jimmy G 30+ times...I like KC's chances a lot more.

Sounds right to me on both points.

The Niners have a much, much better offense than the Patriots at every single position including QB and including the coaching.

The Patriots can't really overcome the reality that their offense was a decent over 30 slot receiver, an aged Brady, and a bunch of replacement value dudes or practice squad tier types. The Patriots' defense was not at all the problem.

Spot on about the OFC, but much like BAL, the DEF rankings did not reflect the Pats D capabilities and played a big part in them being a one and done team in this playoffs.

The DEF needed to stand up in a handful of games because that's about how many good teams NE played during the year. In almost every case, they did not.

Wk 9 BAL, 37 pts, wk 13 HOU 28 pts, wk 14 KC, only 23 so the DEF did a reasonably good job, but notable because 40 pass attempts, some pressure, but only 1 sack, not great for a #1 ranked DEF at home. Finally wk 17, MIA 27, this one really exposed the DEF that was built to defend the pass for not being able to stop Fitzpatrick's passing attack late...again at home, not a good sign for what was to come in the playoffs.

NE basically did what PIT did in their last 13-3 season...beat up the cupcakes, but got exposed when the big boys come uot to play in JAN.

I see an elite KC OFC vs a very good, but maybe not elite SF DEF....but SF also as a very good OFC which makes them more complete imo.

On the flipside, if KC gets up early and SF has to go to Jimmy G 30+ times...I like KC's chances a lot more.

9ers pass D was elite though this season. It slipped at the end of the year because injuries started to pile up and take a toll but it's healthier and will be rested for the SB and it's closer to where it was at the beginning of the season than the end.

The game to look at will be the Chiefs vs Patriots and the Chiefs offense vs Pats defense to get a feel for the upcoming game. The Pats defense was pretty comparable in terms of effectiveness with the 9ers with the Pats having a better secondary but the 9ers having the better front.

In that game Mahomes was just solid and I have a feeling he'll be around that in the Super Bowl. I feel people are falling a bit into recency bias with Mahomes because of what he's done in the playoffs so far but the Texans had a terrible pass defense this year and the Titans were better but not by a lot and they had the added benefit of playing in their 4th straight road game.

People are expecting the 9ers to just rush 4 but I think they are going to send 5 more than what people think. I'd send guys from different spots just so it's in the offensive line and Mahomes head that you're not quite sure how many are coming and from where.

I wasn't that impressed with NE's DEF overall. A pretty good effort vs KC on the score board and that's what matters the most but I don't remember Mahomes being harassed a ton and he threw a bounch. IMO SF edge players are much better NE. As you said, they are healthier now, but I would still stop shy of calling them elite. Not that it's the best gauge but an elite DEF would probably have at least 3 pro bowlers, maybe 1 allpro.

I do agree that SF will vary their rush attack on Mahomes and not rely on any one DEF unless they can't block it, then you keep bringing it until they figure it out.

I'm still going with the narrative that it's KC with the elite OFC vs SF having the most complete team....if that wasn't the case, the 49ers would probably be favored by 10+.

OH man, Frank SOOOOOOOOOO deserves the chance again ... What a work horse his entire career... Funny, I use his character with the Miami Hurricanes in NCAA 2004 on my PS2 ... Canes were sick back then...
