Nolan and Singletary saw him first hand when they coached the Senior Bowl that year, I believe. They came back and put him at the top of the defensive draft board. The rest is history! Way to go Patrick. Given his shortened career, I kinda thought he wouldn't make it in.
If you add the Minny game, those are the worst games the 9ers played on D this year. That said, they have not been as good during these playoffs as they were during the regular season. In "most" games, and DET in the second half, they limited opponents to a high degree. In the games you...
Totally... seemed to me like the game plan heavily relied on Deebo and when he went down it limited what they wanted to do. Add in the weather and the fact that GB came to play, it seemed like a perfect storm. Purdy totally struggled with the wet ball. Something he needs to figure out going...
KC is absolutely capable of scoring 28 pts... but they have yet to do that in the playoffs (even against banged-up Dolphins and Bills teams). I'm not sure that the 9ers defense has fallen off enough for me to say that KC "definitely" breaks that pattern.
Mahomes is definitely "that dude". This is a pick 'em to me. If the 9ers find their way back to the type of defense they were playing during the regular season... and if Shanahan comes up with a better game plan out of the gate compared to the GB/DET games you could say they potentially have...
Tend to agree with you... wonder who the nickle back is. So far they've played Lenoir there, I believe, with Thomas covering the outside. Ambry is the guy that scares the bejeezus out me. Not that we really have other options at this point, but there's definitely something to exploit there...
I'd still take Brady today. He's proven he can win the SB in a variety of ways over two decades, without the physical talent that Mahomes has shown. His mental toughness, intelligence and competitive spirit is off the charts. Not saying Mahomes can't get there - he's absolutely the leading...
Agree with everything you've said... if the 9ers play the game the way they did for most of the year, I like their chances. They just haven't been as consistent on defense in these playoffs. And the gameplan on offense has been... questionable, I guess?
Little late to the Super Bowl party here... not sure I have much more to add on top of what's been mentioned above, but let me give it a go.
Do you guys really think they'll employ a 5-man Dline front? I can't see them getting too far away from their base scheme for that long. Maybe throw...
Could be Campbell, Ryans or Stefanski and I'd be fine with it. My vote would go to Ryans, though. Rookie HC, rookie QB, worst to first in the division when everyone picked them to finish last. I could go with Stefanski, given the injuries the team had, but it's much more rare to pull off what...
Wow... Charlie Weiss on SiriusXM NFL channel called it this morning. He said if they don't announce Belichick today or tomorrow, don't be surprised if Raheem is they guy. Good landing spots for Belichick are disappearing fast.
