I am hoping that they plan to get some big road graders late in FA or the UDFA market at least on the defensive side.
We signed Tremayne Anchrum today, who I never heard of and was apparently a backup for the Rams OL.
I continue to lay the blame at Pete's feet. He kept believing that if everyone would just execute, things would work because it did during the LoB years. The problem was that we simply didn't have the same level of talent. We didn't have All-Pro Bobby or Pro Bowl KJ or All-Pro Earl or Pro...
It's difficult to measure relative quality of OLs. But I think the big issue for Howell was he was a 1st year starter who was asked to carry a huge load for a team with minimal talent, selling off its best players on defense, with a coach who knew he was a dead man walking a quarter way...
I didn't really see him at a top 10 pick either. In large part because I think he will need a year on the bench.
But clearly NFL teams love the potential.
Start off with the ad hominem.
I would assume anyone posting in this group would know Nix and Penix's history.
When was the last time that North Carolina was ranked above Oregon? They are perennially a Top 10-15 team in the country. They aren't Alabama, Georgia or Michigan but they are a...
Yeah. To me drafting Levis just to draft someone wasn't all that desirable. Sometimes teams have to let the situation come to them and work with what they have.
It's always a balancing act for almost every team save maybe 5 in the NFL.
It probably will be the same next season. But the reality is that this team wasn't a Patrick Mahomes away from winning the Super Bowl last year. The defense was absolutely terrible.
The truth is that there was never a chance that the team was going to do the rebuild and draft a QB while...
I can tell you why there is hype.
He just turned 21
He was 29-1 as a starter
He has was top in QBR this season
He was top 5 in completion %
He's a 4.6 40 athlete
By all accounts he is one of the most level headed kids in the draft.
A lot of fans looked at his stats and feel underwhelmed. A...
One thing that seems clear to me is that something changed with regards to JS/MM and the QB position. They were being pretty coy for several weeks. Once they made the trade for Howell, they became very clear about the QB room. Geno was the starter and Sam was the backup.
IMO, I think JS was...
I don't think where a player is drafted is that big a deal.
I do think that drafting the 5th or 6th QB available is more problematic than drafting the 2nd or 3rd. You are definitely fighting against the historical odds when you do that.
Exactly right. IMO, the PC/JS regime always ran into trouble when they either drafted for need or tried to outsmart the league.
I don't think was a team in the NFL that drafted more running backs in the 1st 2 rounds than the Seahawks over the JS/PC era.
Well of course you don't know that. But if that's what your scouts are saying, you have to trust them even if they may be wrong.
If your scouts are saying that player X is unlikely to be more than a replacement level player but you draft him anyway then you are engaging in wishcasting and not...
On the Job Training. I think that may have confused Harold.
There is no value in drafting a QB if all he is going to be is a journeyman. All you are doing is help him get playing time in order to get paid by some other team.
Certainly the best plan to success is to draft a good QB. That gives you 4 or 5 years of low cost QB play.
But drafting a QB just to draft a QB isn't a very sound approach. Let's say we did draft Levis instead of JSN last year. And let's say he is nothing more than a journeyman QB in his...
QBs were taken 1,2,3 in 2021(Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lantz) and in 1999(Couch, McNabb, Akili Smith)
There have only been 3 times that the 5th QB selected was in the 1st round. Cade McNown, Lamar Jackson, and Mac Jones.
That doesn't mean that taking the 5th QB in the 1st round in this...
Not that I necessarily agree with SeattleFan but Aaron Rodgers was the 2nd QB selected.
If we look back at the drafts, here is a list of the 6th QBs selected in each draft
Jake Haener
Sam Howell
Kyle Trask
Jacob Eason
Ryan Finley
Mason Rudolph
C.J. Beathard
Cody Kessler
Brett Hundley
Logan...
I think they may have been overpriced because of how good the Baltimore defense was last year. Also tells us that Macdonald didn't think his defense was a product of the talent on the field. That could be good or bad.

A great primer on Macdonald and the Ravens D along with some good overviews of the Seahawks defense for the past few years.
Matty Brown is always great. And here he hits the nail on the head on one of the big...
I agree completely. I think Fields is the sort of QB that fans get excited about but coaches get frustrated with. Great athlete that can make great throws but has poor field vision and can't get the ball out quickly.
