It's probably based on the last time we played them. They were #1, we beat them (and we've beaten 7 of the all-time top 10 teams the last time we played them: OhSU, SoCal, ND, Mich, UTex, Nebraska...). We have a weird history of winning monumental games... only to fail afterwards.
You still butthurt about the Gamecocks beating #1 Bama last time we played? We also beat Notre Dame, SoCal, Texas, OhSU, Michigan, and Tennessee (7 of the top 10 all-time winning teams) last time we played them. If you want us out of the conference you must be scared.
Rivalry week is always filled with hostility, while what we need right now in our great nation is unity and kindness.
So let me say that while I wish every Clemson player would die tonight, I would hope that their deaths were peaceful and pain-free. Perhaps as they sleep so that they will not...
Damnit! I would say that you can't spell "SUCK" without UK... (but you also can't spell it without USC...)
But I see a Gamecock victory, just because we're due after a few losses to them. Their bubble, as unusual and impressive as it is, is about to pop. Bookmarket!
As a full-time Gamecock and a part-time Longhorn (with degrees from each), I will simply be hoping that an earthquake strikes during this game, demolishing the stadium and killing all fans, players and coaches.
In states with strong inner rivalries it's sort of like politics, you have to pick a side whether you're actually involved or not. I grew up at USC (dad was a prof. there) and also legit graduated, so I'm not referencing myself in regard to the OP question. But if you're in SC you pretty much...
It was a nasty one. I (and thousands of others) honored him with supportive applause as they carried him off.
So I can still LOL @ Auburn.
And really, they actually did a lot better without him.
