I'm well aware of their history. There's more to their history than the past two seasons. Beane has been a GM of the A's for quite some time now.

No one needs a history lesson on the A's. They've lost to other teams in the Beane era as well. They wanted studs for their starting rotation. They had decent ones, but they wanted lock down pitchers to win series. They might not even be facing the Tigers in this post-season.

Cool. That's good for them. He is a 0.250 hitter with 0 homeruns @ Fenway. Smaller sample size sure... but not sure why you think he's suddenly going to be an MVP caliber player by moving from one ballpark to another. He has power sure... but he definitely has some terrible plate discipline...

Their rotation is strong, but why not make it stronger? I can't imagine how I'd feel if the Tigers got Price and the A's didn't get Lester. The move made sense as Cespedes's production is vastly overrated by the mass media. Hammel wasn't worth a thing right now with his 4 straight terrible...

Then you don't understand baseball or you never watch A's games. Cespedes isn't the stud you paint him to be. And it's a 2 month + post-season rental of Lester/Gomes for an 8 month rental in Cespedes.
