Yeah Gold Gloves have never been very scientific and it seems like it is hard to unseat the incumbent from the previous year(s). And sometimes it seems almost random. I was at the game where Bobby Abreu was awarded his Gold Glove. All Star voting is like that too. 1980 was Mike Schmidt's...
Yeah I think he'll probably get in. The 10 gold gloves (and counting) certainly help. Graig Nettles was a very good third baseman in his prime but he was in the same league as Brooks Robinson so he had to wait til he retired to win a couple. That might have kept him out of the hall.

Yeah but in baseball there is so much luck, randomness, weather and other things that when I see that those 3 guys all had great power seasons I don't immediately think of steroids. This might not stick out because they were a very young team but 20 years from now when people look at the...
I ran across a crazy conspiracy thread about the season where Evans, Aaron and Davey Johnson all hit 40 homers with the Braves. They were saying maybe Aaron was juicing. But the whole thing doesn't make sense when you see how they were on the same team the next year and hit about half as many...
The first time he hit 40 homers he had two teammates that also did it. One of those teammates never came close to 40 before or after. The other teammate hit 40 lots of times.
It wasn't completely out of nowhere for this guy. He hit 40 at age 26, then again at age 38. But his 3 best consecutive homerun years were ages 38 to 40 which was a little weird.
