I assume it would take 3 of the top 6-8 prospects.
Bell+ Glasnow/Kellar + Hayes/Newman or something like that. Feels like a lot, but Quintana has 4 very reasonable years left on hi deal.
Don't see anything out of the ordinary in Pomeranz's HRs allowed, very average. Don't see the Red Sox trading him considering they gave up a decent haul to get him.
Feel like Buchholz could be had for almost nothing assuming the Pirates pick up his whole salary, which they should...
Can't imagine McCutchen is what the Rays would want. I assume it would be some package of mid level prospects.
Eaton to Nats, McCutchen might be staying around this year.
Good to talk to you guys again.
I'd give Worley a minor league deal, stash him in AAA if possible. Feel like the Pirates are pretty stocked with backend starters though, and he doesn't seem like a good bullpen candidate.
The scoring play-commercial-kickoff-commercial sequence needs to end.
I pretty much only watch the Steelers or Red Zone at this point. Sometimes Sunday night, never Monday or Thursday.
Ruby De La Rosa seems like a guy the Pirates should be interested in.
Ross/Torres + B prospect + lottery ticket would be an acceptable package for Cutch, IMO.
Pirates GM on Cole's salary offer: 'We made a mistake in the process'
I love Gerrit Cole, but dude is quibbling, publicly, over 3k when he banked 8 million before he threw a pitch. 0-3 guys get screwed on salary, you'd think a guy who is a union rep would understand how the system works...
Rust and Wilson should be on the team rest of the year, no question.
I think Rust and Sheary bring similar things, but Rust is just better, his game reminds me of Lee Stempniak.
I like the Maata deal, I think he becomes a better offensive player as he ages. Defensemen develop late, so at 21 he still has major upside.
I don't think he is the skater that Josi and Klingberg are though, I think he can be a better defender though.
As long as this is the only deal they make I don't mind. I can see them recouping a draft pick, albeit later round, when dealing Plotnikov tomorrow.
I really hope they don't trade Poliout, that would be majorly stupid for a team struggling for 8th place.
Overall, I enjoy watching this...
I feel like Taillon is going to get the the first shot at the majors, feel like his pitching style is more ready right now, with health being the issue obviously. Glasnow with the high walk rates might need some more time in AAA.
If they get another starter, I think it would be in place of...
For comparison's sake Pedro's career line against RHP 246/320/473, so the Pirates are giving up strikeouts, hr's and bad defense for OBP and more injury risk.
I don't think Morse has much value, and it's not like they don't need bench bats, I'd keep him. Jaso and Rogers can theoretically play other positions besides 1B.
Fine below average for Malkin, he's 28th in scoring, and 28th in points per game, he's been in the top 5-10ish for points per game since he's been in the league.
I'd still like to see them get Jaso on a 2/10-14 deal to play 1B/RF, he's left handed so it is a perfect fit. And Fister is still interesting on a 2/20 deal. I think that would be a tremendously efficient use of funds they have left.
This is a player issue, not coaching. Johnston's wasn't using them to their full ability, but Sullivan hasn't loosed up the reins, and they still can't score.
Sid, Malkin, Kessel, Perron, Hornqvist, and Letang are all having terrible years, and it's on them to figure it out. Only so much a...
Yeah, he clearly wasn't ready to play big minutes, but they should have figured that out before he played 9 games. If they were going to keep him, he needed to play 10-14 minutes per night, and they weren't willing to play him that much. I have no problem with them deeming he wasn't ready...
Warsovsky should be sent down and Pouliot should be back up at this point. Really don't understand what their plan with Pouliot is.
Also, Trevor Daly should be running the point on the #1 pp, end of story.
