I've done a few, but I think things are starting to shake out a bit more.
No OT's were there at 18 worth taking, and I didn't want to reach for Guyton there. Murphy, IMO, can grow into an NT and as a part of this DT rotation, I think would be a very good fit.
Added more depth at DE - they...
No surprise, really. With the way the RB market is, he was getting overpaid. It was either take it, or end up getting more money than he would have here, but likely on a team that wasn't as set to win - plus learning a new offense, etc....
Bengals running back Joe Mixon restructured his...
Thought he deserved his own thread - dude has been a ROCK at Punter since 2009 - one of the best through the 2010's. One hell of a ride.
Born here. Raised here. Went to H.S. Here. Went to College here. Played NFL here. I mean - that's the dream when you are growing up and playing sports...
I don't think he's elite, but I do think he's pretty darn good...
He was the 3rd rated DE, has 18/20 sacks over 3 years (seen both numbers used)...has the length and motor that this defense looks for. Versatile, which is what this defense highly values across all positions. I think with how...
A day away...and still no clue on how I think this plays out.
The more I think about it, the less I think they go OL.
If one of the top 2 TE's fall to them (Kincaid/Mayer) I think they go TE..
If not - and they have several options at DE, I think they go DE and look to grab a CB in round 2...
Mentioned this on the main board in AFCN Hate thread but...
The depth this team has shown in the past 2 years has been incredible. Of course, good drafting is a key - but you also have to get luck, too...
Hendrickson misses time. Hubbard misses time. Reader misses time. You have Hill...
He started a new thread - and it messed with the mojo.
LOL
Just kiddin' bud. Hell of a ride boys - let's hope this franchise is as committed to winning as it looks like they've been the past few years on defense/FA approach. It has to be done on the OL - and that is going to be a 30 year...
Now, I don't want to go off the rails and blame the call for the recent loss...who knows what would have happened, and the Bengals had a ton of chances to put that game away and pissed the bed. I'm not going to blame the penalty.
That being said - the NFL, and football in general, has to fix...
Through 4 games, Bengals LB's rank:
8th - Wilson
16th - Pratt
20th - Davis Gunther
3 LB's in the top 20 of PFF's top ranked LB's.
This also is showing how improved the DL is as well. It's really hard to get good LB play when your DL isn't doing its job of taking up space and eating up...
Step 1 of 2 in signing two of their own young, very good, players. Bates is up next.

Alright - despite the constant back and forth about the 1st round pick...
What is the strategy for rounds 2-4 where there is going to be a lot of depth at multiple positions of need.
LB, DT, DE, OG
I know it's easy to say best player available, but reality is - there have to be some needs...
Interesting. Seems like whoever is calling the shots has told Taylor he will return, but he will have to make changes to his staff. Maybe a step in the right direction? No more of the "Well, we won those last 2 games, 3 games - we're right there with who we have" statements? I guess we'll...
Looks like Carlos go pushed down the depth chart and was none-to-pleased on how it was handled. Can't say I disagree on either side. Lawson's play against the run has really improved, and his ability to rush the passer is way better than Dunlap at this stage in his career. Having Lawson in...
Now that we've had some time to look back at how the draft played out, here are a couple of my thoughts:
I love Higgins in the 2nd round. I know a lot of people wanted an OL here, and I will touch on that in a moment, but you now have Boyd with back-to-back 1K seasons, and added a WR many...
Where do they go.
I'll be honest - when I kept seeing Queen fall, I knew Bmore was going to take him, but if they didn't I was fairly confident that he would have gotten to the 33rd pick. What a home run that would have been for Cincinnati. Now, instead, we get to face him twice a year. Damn...
