I'm not talking about coddling the young players. Constructive criticism is fine, but Byron needs to quit saying all the bullshit he does to the press. He is not doing the team any favors by continually criticizing the youth to the press. It's been a season long trend. They aren't the only ones...
Agreed about Duncan, but we all agree that bigs age better compared to high flying guards. A lot of people thought Kobe would never be close to the same after the achilles injury. I thought he could get back to a decent level of play but was wrong.
I don't think Jordan is a good comparison...
But he never had an early decline which is what you are saying. You can't look at his age without looking at the number of seasons played. He was playing elite level basketball during his 17th season in the league until he tore his achilles. He has been a shell of himself since, but 17 seasons...
Enough is enough. It's time to fire Byron Scott. His handling of Russell is mind boggling. Enough of the tough love act. Enough of the conflicting criticisms. The old school rhetoric is out of control. There is no offensive system as far as I can tell, the defensive schemes are inconsistent at...
If they are fortunate to get the #1 pick, the Lakers could instantly turn things around this summer. That huge trade chip along with a couple max player slots could result in a crazy reload following Kobe's departure. It's an extreme best case scenario, but not out of the realm of possibilities.
The only recent team that I can think of that effectively used zone principles to neutralize an elite dominant player was the 07-08 Celtics. They effectively neutralized not only Lebron but Kobe on their way to the title. GS has a very good defense, but I don't think it is anywhere near as good...
Teams may be calling Mitch about his trade availability, but I just don't see the Lakers dangling him out there. Of course....
The rumor mill is starting to warm up
Medina says that the Lakers want to keep D'Angelo. I haven't seen anyone on the Lakers beat say anything about dangling him out there. Questionable source for sure.
Golden State only needs to go 31-5 the rest of the way to break the Bulls the record. They appear to want to do this. I don't see them slowing down towards the end of the season to preserve themselves for the playoffs.
The Kobe-Gasol Lakers triangle offense was pretty effective. The triangle offense is designed to have counters to whatever defense is thrown at it. The reason it is not effective these days is that no elite team with an all-time great player is running it. I highly doubt that those Bulls teams...
It will be interesting to see how hard the Clippers come down on Blake. This is not a good look for a franchise trying to move on from a bullying owner to have one of their stars being a bully.
