Nobody.

Agree it's not ideal, but if it happened it would have to be a sign and trade which could happen.

It's expensive, but my main point was money aside, WAS is still in the driver's seat as long as they have tag rights.
They have cap money. I'd pay the QB long-term, spend FA and draft picks on D, and see if I could win two more games and get in the tournament next season

Yep...I was one of those that supported the tag move by WAS last year. At this point he's shown enough to win during the 16 game season. He hasn't had enough chances to prove it in the post season yet so I would do as you posted there and focus on other positions...finally.

What The Washington Redskins Could Do With Kirk Cousins

I think that this article lays out the options pretty well. As the article states - in a trade situation the Redskins likely won't get as much as some people believe & Cousins will also be stuck in a bad situation for a while. A long term extension will be costly to the Redskins but probably worth it & just the price of doing business in the NFL.

The bidding war for Garrapollo is gonna be pretty huge

If I were Cleveland, I'd give the #1. I wouldn't give more than that

Absolutely would draw the line at the #1

Given your choice, Cousins or Garrappolo?

could be....Dallas media thinks the same about Romo.
Hard to see but stranger things have happened

Romo cost will be much less, only because he will be a one or 2 year filler

Jimmy will be seen as a franchise changer for the next decade

Im usually skeptical on unproven guys, but I really like Garrappolo, think he's the real deal

Think I spelled his name 4 different times in this thread alone

Franchising Cousins again is just taking away another 5 million dollars for a receiver he needs so they can complete passes. Look at how the last franchise tag hurt the receiver options. You give money to cousins and a receiver and your defense wont get help and wont be able to get off the field. I believe its a 20-25% raise from the 19.5 he made this year, all cap dollars.

Dont take it out on the posters though, Adam Schefter is the one that reported this on the 22nd. There will be a bidding war for Cousins if not franchised again and it will just take a team willing to give up more guaranteed dollars, not more dollars. Pretty sure San Fran might be able to offer the biggest bonus money anyway. Yes, there could be a trade, but no doubt it would include tampering if the new team is having their contract negotiated thru the redskins.

Signing KC to a long term deal is not going to be easy. KC has all the leverage. He is going to want to be the highest paid QB in the league and want more guarantee money than Luck. This is why the Skins have to look at all options. I love how you guys just say sign him or its a big mistake. You are not even thinking that KC is going to want to be the highest paid player in the LEAGUE. Doesn't that factor in the decision making?

I sure don't think Cousins wants to be the highest paid QB. Maybe he wants some love from your GM but highest paid? I call bull shit

Browns have the most cap space available ($108M+), but the Niners are 2nd ($81M+). That probably doesn't count the new contract for Jamie Collins though, plus the likely tag for Terrelle Pryor.

He is going to start at the Luck contract. They are the same age. I hope so but KC has too much leverage over the Skins.

perhaps but no way on highest paid QB.

Cousins seems pretty grounded to me. I don't see anything but him wanting his team to show him some love as their starting QB

Luck is the highest paid in the league right now. So he could ask for the same deal or even more than Luck. ITs about leverage. I would be shocked if he takes less than Luck. As you know everyone gets overpaid in FA.

So if he wants more than Luck and the Skins can get a 1st and 3rd in this years draft from the 49ers, how is that bad for the Skins? Why would the franchise be made fun off b/c they took that deal?

I wouldn't.

Garoppolo looked pretty good in his 3 game stint for the Pats, but he's not a 1st rd pick talent. The Browns need to take the best DEF player in the draft @ #1 and the BPA player @ #12...I would consider a QB #33 or trading that pick for Garoppolo.

They have a fairly accurate young QB that's smallish and getting hammered behind that OL...I think the same thing would happen to Jimmy G.

Gruden will certainly want Cousins signed. His future is tied to him. He won't get a start-over if Cousins leaves. Redskins will sign him.
