I was looking over the league history. Remember Shoulda Traded Phil Hughes? That guy was pretty funny. There was also hyperRevue. Wonder what ever happened to him.

I bet becca was a dude.

It's also funny to think about how quickly Pimpy Looka got ground down in that league. For how tough he played it on FN, he sure got chewed up and spit out of the DLFL with a quickness.

Steroid scandal notwithstanding, he's done some pretty awesome things for the sport. It's more popular and certainly more profitable than it's ever been, and he has a lot to do with that.

I have to disagree. I don't think he did anything good for the game of baseball. All he has done is made a lot people a ton of money. Salaries are out of control, ticket prices are insane. Personally, I feel he ruined the game of baseball.

Luxury tax. Revenue sharing. His foresight in regards to the revenue streams from MLBAM. These things that he spearheaded are a big part of the parity we're seeing in MLB right now. Had they not happened, the Yankees of the world would still be gutting the ranks of teams with lesser bankrolls. Instead, teams like the Indians have the revenues needed to lock up their developed players through much of their primes.

He's done some really great things for the game. You should look into it more - it'd likely change your opinion of him.

ticket prices are insane

True that, but the fact that MLB is selling more tickets than ever before proves that the market will bear those prices. I don't like the prices either, but then again, I don't like the prices of Porches. In a free market, just because you want something to be more affordable, doesn't mean it should be.

Also, have you compared the average ticket price of MLB to NBA or NFL? Shit, look at concert tickets these days. None of it has much, if anything, to do with Bud Selig. You just need a scapegoat.

I don't need a scapegoat. I don't think NFL tickets are that bad, when factor in each team only has 8 home games, not 81. Yet, to sit behind home plate will cost you just as much to sit at the 50 yard line or pretty damn close.

I highly doubt anything will change my thoughts on Bud.

Jesus, @dougplayer, I feel badly for you.

The Tigers suck and after finishing in the ALc basement in 2015, proceed to get their asses completely handed to them by a vastly superior Indians team in 2016.
The Wolverines lost to the Buckeyes for the fifth straight year (and 14 out of the last 16)
The Lions eeked into the playoffs, but got ass plowed right out in the first round
The Red Wings are mediocre.
The Pistons suck balls.

Given how much of your self worth hinges on Michigan sports and how shitty those teams are, I just hope for your sake that your relationship with your life partner is going well so that you have some kind of bright spot in your life.

If you say so.

How do you factor that in? If you want to take your family to a sporting event, you need to look at the cost of that event, not the cost of if you went to every event that team has. You can get into The Jake for $10 or less - they won't let you stand outside by the door to a Cavs or Browns (in an average year) game for $10.

Yet, to sit behind home plate will cost you just as much to sit at the 50 yard line or pretty damn close.
I don't know what 1st row, 50 YL tickets cost from the Browns, but I would be surprised if it's not close to twice what a 1st row seat behind HP would be for the Indians. Regardless, I know the average ticket price is significantly less to The Jake.

I highly doubt anything will change my thoughts on Bud.

I agree with that. Go get him!

What I was trying to say is the NFL has less games to make money on, compared to MLB. Yet, the price of their tickets are somewhat comparable.

The average NFL ticket in 2016 was approximately three times more expensive than the average MLB ticket. That's not comparable at all.

Regardless, the origin of the ticket price discussion was that you were blaming Bud Selig for MLB's high ticket prices, which is patently absurd. It wouldn't matter who was in that office, the ticket prices would still be ridiculous.

If you want to know who to blame for MLB ticket prices, you need to look no further than the seventy-three million fans that attended regular season games in 2016. They stop paying those prices, the prices will drop.

I'm going to win. I'm tired of my championship being a victory over you whilst my team blows.

You make a reasonable point. Your teams do fair pretty well against my teams relative to your overall record.

vs Slink: 6-7 (.462)
Overall: 50-81 (.382)

But the NFL only has 8 home games, not 81. Their average ticket price should be higher, since they have less games.

In the end, it doesn't matter. You like Bud and I don't. Its all good.
