This is not a traditional movie, rather it is an original 8 episode mini-series broadcast every Tuesday night at 10:00PM Eastern on FX.

I enjoyed episode #1 last night (Jan 10th), and look forward to the remainder. So far, the series has some interesting Native American & African tribal mysticism/supernatural overtones.

Really liked it ... decided to watch it based on the trailers/commercials ... when i heard the name Nootka Sound while watching last night i just about jumped out of my chair as its in my sorta/kinda neck of the woods ... didnt know this was a pacific northwest thing ... some familiar GOT faces here too

I also like that this is gonna be a takedown of EIC / shadiness of a pioneering colonial corp

I DVR it because I can't stay up beyond 9:30. The best thing about DVR is that I can back it up 10 time and re-listen to what Hardy is saying and finally get it right.

The biggest problem is that the director really likes those dark scenes and sometimes trying figure out what is going on is near impossible. I think the series is going to be shot 85% in the dark to keep that supernatural effect going.

As far as fact and fiction go, it appears that the writers have taken fact and supplanted it into a different time period. But they are mixing actual fact into it. The East India Company was the largest commercial trading company in the world and did not participate in the actual sale of slaves. BUT, they did transport slaves for traders while also transporting spices and gems and other cargo. Pick up and delivery. UPS of the late 17th and early 18th century.

Overall......certainly worth watching. Just finished episode 2.

The strong accents are killing me... example: episode #2, the bald dude with the compass tattoo on his head... WTF, I could hardly understand his dialog. Delaney's house servant/butler is pretty difficult to understand too.

Yeah, I hate that fuckin shit. CGI and FX up the asss, but mothafuckers wanna shoot everything, or at least a whole lotta good parts in the dead of night.

Yeah...upon further evaluation, this doesn't appear to be anything special. It's pretty slow, nothing seems all that intriguing, and its damn hard to understand anyone because they all mumble. I'm still watch the rest of the season though.

Spot on, Breed. I go to bed early so I DVR everything and watch the next day. I find myself hitting the fast forward button more and more. I hate to say it but this program has to pick it up a bit or there may not be a Season 3. You know they've already got most of Season 2 pretty much wrapped up.

It's actually getting boring because they've spent so much time building East India and the fake/actress wife.
