Ohio State thought they were going to run it down their throats, too. It didn't work out so well. MSU's passing game is their strength. Bama's pass D isn't... actually I don't really know how good they are back there. Bama's run game is great but run D is a Sparty strength. If Cook's shoulder is right I like this match-up.

Also, I have no beef with Michigan fans that are rooting for Bama, I would do the same thing if it were Michigan playing them.

I have but two teams that I would root for U. of Michigan to beat. One of them is Alabama. The other is Ohio State.

I dislike Iowa more than Michigan. Iowa has ruined more Spartan seasons than Michigan the past decade.

MSU's passing game is their strength. Bama's pass D isn't... actually I don't really know how good they are back there.

We were great in 2008-2012 in the secondary then missed out some recruits and had a gap that led to 1 dismal and 1 below average secondary in 2013 and 14 before attaining two recruiting classes stacked with DBs back to back. They are young but have played well. We arent going to completely smother a passing attack, but our CBs are above average and will make a lot of plays too.

#5 Cyrus Jones is a veteran. He is short but very physical. He knows the defense extremely well and plays the position exactly the way it was taught. The best chance is to throw over him, but since he has done a great job of limiting these throws due to his toughness and being in the right spot to knock the ball away or rake it out. He is also the punt returner.

#26 Marlon Humphrey. Redshirt freshman. Makes freshman mistakes at times and is the most often targeted, but is head and shoulders above anyone who played opposite Cyrus last year (and we had 3 try and all are still on the team just were beat out by Humph.) Son of former great Bama RB Bobby Humphrey, he was a top 10 CB recruit in 2014. He is rangy and quick, runs hurdles on college track team, and by appearance looks to be headed to be a first or second round draft pick. Just needs more experience, but is very trustworthy comparatively for a first year starter.

#29 Minkah Fitzpatrick. Plays star position.(mix of safety and linebacker) True freshman. Made an instant impact and Saban was unable to deny him the field. Has a nose for the football and plays very physical for his age. Has all star potential.

#24 Geno Matias-Smith. Biggest weakness in defense. Does fairly well coming up to play the run but gets out of position from time to time on deep throws. On 2 deep plays behind Cyrus. Not a great talent but serviceable.

# 4 Eddie Jackson. Was a punch line as a CB and never developed there. Was moved to safety and has excelled. While he may not have the hips to play CB he still has good coverage skills for a safety, has good range, is usually in position and does his part. Not an all star but still very good as a role player with the potential to be a strong part of the defense in 2016.

#5 Ronnie Clark. Super athletic safety but as a true freshman makes typical first year mistakes and thus doesn't see the field all that much and is still being developed.

lucky for msu you caught the Buckeyes THAT day. OSU wins that matchup 7-10 times............

a number of other teams would've won that day in Columbus too............... msu isn't special.

The whole country is going to be watching an OU vs. bammer CG. might as well start preparing for this reality.

OSU hasn't played to potential 11/12 games. I think most of the games Ohio State played this year Michigan State could have won. OSU got lucky to catch Michigan State without Cook or that game could have been much worse.

that's BS and you know it.

we all can't win games on sheer blind luck like msu. so congrats. Michigan pushed your shit in all game, OSU went up there and kicked their ass up and down the field.

So ... you're saying that MSU is this year's Auburn?

You obviously missed the entire Michigan game except the last 10 seconds. The stat the won by an any real margin was punt return yards. Doesn't change the fact that Ohio State looked bad for most of the season, got to play Michigan State with out our Soon to be first/second round draft pick QB and could only manage two scoring drives for a combined 40 yards.

If OSU would've played Michigan, Indiana, or PSU that day in Columbus, all of them would've won too, msu isn't special in that regard.

OSU beat exactly ONE team all season that won more than 8 games. And as 7Samurai said, Sparty dominated the OSU game more than the 17-14 score indicates.

Yet we actually did win. There is no excuse for not getting up for the biggest game of the year to that point. It's not like we were some FCS chump.

I'm all for Sparty beating Bama but after that they can go pound sand. I just want to hear Bama fans lose their shit being beat 2 years in a row by a Big team.
I'll be rooting for all conference teams to do well in their bowls....except the Suckeyes. OSU - Notre Dame is hell on earth and the first sign of the end of days

We'd be upset about it, but we'd hardly lose our shirts.

Unlike most of you scrubs, Bama fans know their team will be in the hunt for the NC nearly every season. :)

What day ? A Saturday in Columbus ? With MSU's 1st round draft choice QB out ? Was everyone on their periods down there or something ? MSU dominated the LOS all day, both sides. Your boys got stuffed and were lucky they weren't shut out.

if the Connor Cook from yesterday shows up, Bama will easily hold them to less than 10 points. however, Cook could get healthy and Bama's secondary is certainly not their strength.

Certainly isn't their weakness either.... not sure if you've watched college football this year.
