If it was an accident and nothing criminal happened, that would be great. I read somewhere Lombardi said he has never had any on or off ice issues with Voynov and that he has never even been late to a practice.

They need to get to the truth as quickly as possible - whatever that may be - so everyone can move on. I'm a bit curious however to what the "accident" could be, especially when neighbors called the cops after hearing screams and crying.

I can't think of any accident that could be construed as DV, maybe they were swinging off chandeliers at the house during naughty time or something.

Just talked to Voynov lawyer. @losangeleslegal He said he interviewed woman in the Voynov case for more than an hr (More)

Interviewed her via interpreter. Renetzky:"Based on what she is telling me, there's no crime here." Reported earlier by Ken @THNKenCampbell

Renetzky: "There's certainly not enough to bring criminal charges." He would not tell me what the injury was but said it was an accident.

More Renetzky: "She was very clear he did not punch her, he did not hit her in that way...." More

Renetzky: "I don't think they (the police) understand what exactly had occurred..."

Voynov attorney, again, spoke to the woman through a Russian interpreter.

Sounds to me like Slava threw something and hit her in the head.

Can't edit to add ....

Nothing I say is a fact, just writing a made for TV movie.

I am guessing that Slava threw something and hit her in the head. He can claim he didn't mean to hit her, he was throwing it at the wall. It is hard to prove intent so the lawyer claims it was an accident. If he can get the girl to agree to that, then consulting may be all that happens.

Attorney now claiming she fell down
Attorney: Kings D Voynov did not attack girlfriend, police misunderstood - Article - TSN
The attorney said Voynov's girlfriend is adamant she "fell down", explaining why neighbours heard her crying but police got the wrong impression when she tried to express that and arrested his client.
"It is my hope that when the police conclude their investigation, they will realize that there was no criminal activity on the behalf of Mr. Voynov," the attorney added.

Whats telling is that Voynov had no signs of Injury. If he did attack her so badly she had to be in the hospital there would be some signs of a struggle from her defending her self.

If there isn't enough evidence for the state to do anything and she doesnt want to press charges really nothing that can be done. Im thinking he'll be back with the team in a week or two.

I'm not saying that he is guilty or innocent, however the "I fell down" excuse just sounds made up. Plenty of victims of DV have said that to police.

This somewhat supports the article I just posted about the lawyer believing no crime was committed.

The lawyer's comments while certainly encouraging are a little suspect also. Mostly because I tend to never believe anything a lawyer says.

Good point, you would think there would be some defensive wounds on him, although we (I haven't anyway) haven't heard anything about that.

DV is one of those charges in CA that cannot be dropped by the alleged victim; once there is an arrest for DV and a criminal charge, the only person who can drop the charge is the DA. They did this after good old OJ to prevent victims from either being intimidated by the offender or the victim feels bad and now wants the charges dropped.

In both cases it's to protect the victim as well as bring the offender to justice - too many people in significant relationships (kids, cars, etc) would just say "OK drop the charges" and next time it could be death or something instead of a trip to the hospital.

If it truly was a fall, then there is some serious 'splanin to do by the hospital and the PD for turning this guy's world upside down if he didn't do anything.

Hey now, I will be attending law school next fall. You may need my services some day champ.

=)~~

I'm leery because it's Voynov's attorney, of course he will release information to make his client look good. The truth will come out but probably not from this guy.

You in law school? Just want to go into a court room knowing you will be walking out the front door at the end of the day?

Hey O!

=)~~

Crazy right? Funny to think I have had more than my share of run ins with the law, some minor, some serious but will be going to CSUF next fall for their law program. My mom laughed and said "don't get arrested the second you walk into a court room" when I told her.

I'll be focusing on business law however, so I doubt I'll ever have to go to court. I'll be doing (hoping to anyway) consulting for businesses - contracts, etc.

With the time it takes you to go through school I'll be long dead before you actually become a member of the Bar.

Looks like we're lined up to have Voynov back in the line up by next week after all and everyone can finally focus on whats wrong with Gaborik and why he hasn't even skated yet.

Well Muzzin has been cleared so we can worry less about calling up a nobody for a week or so. There is no timeline for Voynov. The DA has forever ( ok maybe a year) to decide to charge him. The league won't jump the gun to reinstate him and the Kings won't fight the league. His lawyer may say there is nothing to this case but we don't know what is in the police report. Maybe she has a home plate shaped cut on her forehead with diamonds embedded.
I think if the lawyer has them all telling the same tale, it will be hard for the DA to go forward. That doesnt mean he/she could drag it out

A good sign is the GF declined the RO but like you said, there is stuff in there we don't know about. It's way too soon to know all the details and I'm sure there's plenty of investigative work being done that will be necessary for it to move forward as a charge. Everything is still very fresh and a lot of unknowns.

The hospital staff obviously felt concerned enough to call the police, I'm not so sure I believe this whole "lost in translation" thing - possible but wow does that sound straight out of a movie.

For their sake I hope it's true and a complete misunderstanding. If it is, I would definitely seek restitution against the hospital were I Voynov. This kind of stuff can kill a person's career and life.

For all you Rush fans out there

The DA's office has requested additional follow up before making a determination on the filing of charges, per RB PD release.

DA wants the police to find out more.

Breaking news: That was re the Slava Voynov case. Again the case was sent back for "additional follow up" before making a determination.

That makes sense. The DA's office should investigate the case fully before making a determination. Maybe the police should have investigated a little further before making the arrest. That seems to me to have been the prudent thing to do. Got an interpreter and talked to Voynov and the woman to get their sides of the story. It didn't sound to me like Voynov was being a threat to her.
