TL,DR.

does this void their NBC contract ?

No. Basically they stay independent in football, but will play 5 ACC schools a year. When at home, NBC gets the game. When at an ACC school, ESPN gets the game.

They can also get ACC bowl affiliation, but they must be ahead or 1 place below an ACC school in the polls and not have more than one loss than an ACC school to be eligible.

link to that?? i've read that the renegotiation with espn will probably bump the payout to each acc member up 1-3 million per school (18-20million per school total)

Notre Dame to become ACC member in all sports except football - CBSSports.com

The Orange Bowl revenue, along with all football-related revenue, will be shared equally among the 14 all-sports members. The Irish will be equal sharing members for all television revenue for Olympic sports, which Swofford estimated as "20 percent" of the ESPN deal.

Notre Dame's addition will also allow the ACC to renegotiate its media-rights deal with ESPN. The current deal is set to pay out approximately $17 million per school, but the addition of the Irish in basketball and baseball (among other Olympic sports), and any Notre Dame-ACC football games played away from South Bend create additional inventory for negotiation. Notre Dame's current media rights deal with NBC runs through 2015, and it is expected the school will not be required to share that revenue with the rest of the league.

5 questions about ACC, Notre Dame partnership - College - NewsObserver.com

Swarbrick termed the move as “financially neutral” for Notre Dame.

Don't get me wrong .. not the greatest arrangement but the ACC, effectively:

- will get 1-3 million more in TV money for each of the 14 full members
- increase strength of olympic sports (adding notre dame does not dilute athletics)
- increases the chances of getting them as a full member, if they're ever in a position where they need to do so

obviously the bowl tie-in is a bad deal but they had to give up something. and though the wording is very .. shall we say .. vague, i don't see anywhere saying that they have to share bowl revenue. my guess -- notre dame gets the full bowl revenue for the bowl that they're a part of and the 14 full members share the collective revenue from all bowls where the acc is represented. if notre dame takes the place of an acc team -- yeah that could mean that they're getting a slice of the pie that the acc used to get. but the big daddy is the orange bowl and there is no tie-in there.

not sure this move is really going to solidify the acc.....why would fsu and the football schools be happy about a team that doesnt play the full conference and yet gets bowl tie ins and is the nd football team going to be bringing in any money to the conference?????

doesnt nbc get the rights to all nd home games..so the games at nd wont generate any money for the acc right??

So word im hearing is that FOUR teams voted against this entire deal BUT the ACC pulled a fast one and let their "future" members of Pitt and Cuse vote so it passed. The four schools that voted against this deal?? FSU and Clemson(Big 12 rumor) along with NCState and VT(SEC rumor). If this is true then those four schools have to be pissed like no other. I know I would be.

pasted from a clemson fan.....

and to the 50 mil......they cant just wake up the next day and say the exit fee is 50 mil,if vt,fsu and clemson did vote against it then the acc cant make them pay up if the schools leave before the agreement is signed by all schools

It was stated on the ACC video conference that ALL presidents voted for ND to be invited, as well as all of the terms. I realize it's easier just to blame Swofford, but your school's presidents was just as involved.

If you take Jeffro at his word, I haven't seen the video.
