5. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
The so-called Legion of Boom is long gone, so the team is now trying to put together a unit worthy of succeeding it. Shaquill Griffin bounced back to have a career year after a tough sophomore campaign. And while he didn’t come away with an interception, he tallied 14 pass breakups and was a tough player to beat each week.

Hold on, let me find another site that says other wise. LOL!

I look at it this way, just play as a top 10 secondary and I'm good with that.

Eh... lot of unknowns. ON PAPER IMO they have the best secondary. You have the #2 rated corner last year who was cleared, Diggs is a very serviceable safety, Adams is the best strong/box safety in the league (And Carroll knows how to use it) and Griffin is a very good corner.

That said, 50% of that cast is completely unknown, has not played together, and has dealt with injuries. POTENTIAL wise, #1 in the league IMO. But that's not a reason to place them #1 let alone top 3. I think top 5 is about right. Seems like an educated opinion at the moment.

As good on paper as it shows, they'll get torched if the FO doesn't bring in an edge rusher and our D-line fails at getting pressure and sacks.

Eh.. I think they'll be okay. Irvin and Mayowa SUCK as overall defenders (can't stop the run for shit) but they do know how to rush the passer. Brooks had the highest QB pressures among linebackers in last years NCAAF. Green/Collier are wild cards but gotta hope they develop and Green quietly got 4 sacks last year. I think they'll be okay.

Gotta remember Seattle's pass rushers in their top 5 defense in NFL history did not have high paid/ELITE pass rushers. Avil/Clemons/Bennett were GOOD, but none of those guys are going to reach the HOF let alone get a $15-20M per year contract.

A lot of "ifs" and hope it happens but I'll feel better if they sign an edge rusher

Not gonna argue with you there. We can't get much worse on defense than we were last year. It'd be nice to see Clowney come back... I thought he played great but it seems he just wants too much... Everson Griffen must have some major personal/legal issues for him to be unsigned at this point... but with COVID this year is just weird.

It would be nice to have Clowney back but I think that ship has sailed so Griffen would be a nice next option. Also need Norton to call a better game.

Well, were definitely better than last year, on paper anyway... Dunbar is a definite upgrade and so is Jamal ....

Agreed. Made the upgrades just need that one edge rusher for added help.

Yep, pass rush is a huge need now ... I guess they're looking at Mathews or Griffen, one is coming in.. Griffen is younger but Mathews has shown he can still get after it, he's an emotional guy also, brings heat at big times...

I'd choose Griffen but hey if it's Mathews I'm fine with it as well.

One more post like this and you'll be forced to turn in your 12 man card.

You've been warned.

BOOM were are here!

Anyway like someone says on paper we are better but I have always stood by notion that games aren't won on paper we will see how well they work together when the season starts.

I'd go with Griffen as well but both would be an upgrade but both have some miles on those wheels so it's hard to project how effective they would be.

Both played on pretty good defensive lines so the question would be is how well they would do when they don't have other guys taking the team's focus away from them.

Still the Hawks need someone because it doesn't matter how good the secondary is the other offenses in the NFC West and even the NFC in general will find the weak spots and get guys open if you give them enough time to develop plays.

Be careful. There's a Seattle grammar Nazi out there who may put you on a time out for abusing the English language like this:suds:
