Already on that chief. I am looking for one clear advantage you guys had besides Entman. In general I would say James would have the advantage but seeing how Erickson knew you guys in and out I think that is a wash. I think they would win by 3 touchdowns but I guess it could always be an upset like when Ohio State beat Miami.

Fuck Erickson! Sorry, hated those years he coached the Hawks.

I am not saying was a great coach, I mean he did just take the greatest university in the nation to a bowl game before he took the Miami job so Don James couldn’t have thrown anything at him that wouldn’t have prepared his squad for. Upsets happen but I just don’t see a way UW could’ve won without it being a massive upset and needing a little help from the refs like every upset that Miami had during that dynasty run.

Maybe maybe not but I wouldn't say a 12-0 team beating another 12-0 team is some massive upset. It's tough going undefeated and if you do usually that means you have a damn fine stacked team that can compete with anybody for that year.

Would you say an undefeated Ohio State besting an undefeated Miami team in 02 wasn’t a massive upset? I guess that is al objective I just feel it would be a massive, not historic just a massive upset. My line would Miami -14

Not really as I feel OSU played a more difficult schedule.

I guess but Miami was a more talented team at every level and the refs kept them in the game. That game was essentially Super Bowl 40. Now Texas beating SC was an upset but am upset just because SC was the far superior team except at the most important position.

We have 5.

My father's best friend just passed. Dick Patrick. I know him as Colonel Pat.

He was an All American Center at Oregon, and probably the greatest man I've ever met in my life.

I agree Miami was the more talented team but at some point you have to credit OSU. They didn't back door their way into the title game and they did beat top 10 teams in their own conf. Miami would have still been favored but not by 11.5. Agreed on the Tex/SC game.

I give a lot credit OSU, they were the more physical team. The Buckeyes were essentially the Steelers and Miami was the Seahawks. Every time they started getting momentum the refs would stall it let alone the debacle at the end of regulation. I am a Husky hater so I am bias in my thinking UW would only have a prayer against that Miami team. Dewey Johnson would’ve laid the smack down on the entire Husky offense.

I do get your point being a Husky hater. That's a valid point in the OSU/MIA game.

So.. Oregon? Sounds like Georgia is too focused on the smaller picture. Just besting a rival.
Who knows, I don't follow Oregon football. They have the easier path the CFP as they play in the worst of the 5 P5 conferences. UGA obviously has the better talent, both have young HCs. UGA's path is far more difficult. Even though our competition in the SECE is fairly weak, we have to go through Bama or LSU every year.

I'd go UGA because of talent, which means we have a better shot at the Clemsons and tOSUs in the CFP than Ore would. But we have to get past the top of the SEC once we easily win the East again.

The worst of the P5 conferences? The ACC has Clemson and 13 'others'.

Miami had more talent in 1986 when they were Undefeated and lost to Undefeated Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl for the National Championship.

Miami had more talent in 1992 when they were Undefeated and lost to Undefeated Alabama in the Sugar Bowl for the National Championship.

Miami had more talent in 2002 when they were Undefeated and lost to Undefeated Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl for the National Championship.

Every year is different, but I smell a trend!

Plus, by any metric used, 1991 Washington was a better and more dominant team than 1986 Penn State, 1992 Alabama or 2002 Ohio State. They would not have double digit underdogs to UM like those 3 teams were.

FWIW, I didn't see either team play in person in 1991, but I saw the 1990 Hurricanes in person (vs. Florida State) and the 1992 Huskies in person (vs. Southern California). One was the year before 1991 and the other was the year after 1991 (without a significant talent difference gained by the Hurricanes or lost by the Huskies in the overlapping years). They were both big, fast, physical teams during that time period by my eye ball test.

I'm a 100% neutral fan on this debate, and IMO, the 1991 Huskies would have done just fine against the 1991 Hurricanes. Huskies by 5.

P.S. The Pac was one of the better conferences in 1991, not to be confused with the mess it is today.
