Jewell will likely make the team. We don’t have much depth at ILB and he is the only guy behind our starters with starting experience. He is also pretty good on special teams. I see Jewell last in the NfL a long time as a depth LB and special teams guy because he is dependable and smart and an all effort guy. Won’t be fancy but he will stick around for awhile. Strnad may bump Josh Watson on the depth chat but Jewell will stick here this year.

Jewell’s biggest asset is run defense and special teams. Doesn’t make a lot of plays behind the line at the NFL level but he is a very good tackler when he gets to the ballcarrier. Needs to stay healthy.

I really don't get Jewell - his 3 cone drill time was better than most DBs -and he mastered some kind of incredible dance moves that involve being very limber. He should be physically able provide pass defense in a zone. I think he needs to work on his play recognition in order to maximize his his physical skills.

Jewell was good in coverage at Iowa. Had some good interceptions, just physically hampered a bit at the NFL level, smart snd dependable though. Will be around the NFL awhile, imo - but will never be a star. Sure tackler but probably will make most of his plays past the line of scrimmage and not behind.

I wasn't referring to you being bothered. ;)

And yeah- I get what you're saying about the title. I agree.

Exactly on your last comment. Use to be you could search for a few good articles, now you have tons of poor (and a few good) articles by wanna be sports writers bombarding you on facebook and other social media outlets. Hard to get away from them.

I think he's too slow to be a starter but he fits in well on special teams.

That was interesting that the NFL was slowly making

The biggest issue according to Kollmann was Lock’s confidence with what he was seeing. Early on in his first few starts, Lock took shots down the field and looked for the big play. However, NFL defenses started to put guys in places Lock didn’t expect and by the final two games Lock had transformed into a dink and dunk safe play quarterback.

Except - what is the QB supposed to do, but take what the Defense gives you? I thought is was an example of how smart he was - not something he has to overcome. The kid was a mad bomber 4 years at Mizzou.

All the same, we need him to look off safeties and be able to find the open WR. There is always windows. He has an NFL arm and needs to throw with the timing at some point.

I like what I see and do believe he will be a decent NFL QB.
