That is a good question. I have not seen anything explaining how a player opting out affects the 40 man roster. My personal opinion is that they should be counted the same way as a guy on the 45 day (normally 60 day) injured list.

Seems like his need for TJ was announced the same day as Chris Sale's. Sale, I'm sure, had higher priority, but it seems like it was just before everything got shut down. Elective surgeries were all delayed for at least a month and I would guess TJ is considered elective.
I have him listed in my “inactive list” section. But I agree. I have no idea how it even matters for the non-40 guys...
How much did he sign for? How does it affect their cap situation?

I think Sandoval and Hamilton are locks for the active roster, and both would need 40 spots. That only leaves one free spot. It sounds like that may be going to Baragar.
You have them in the inactive list as well. I assumed only those active were being counted in your top list.
They need to create two spots for whoever they go with as the two catchers. You don't think, especially with Longoria and Belt not available, that they will carry Sanchez and Ruf in the infield?
