I wouldn't mind giving up a 1st round pick on adams in a package deal. If it was two 1sts that would be a problem but in return getting a 24 year old safety that has made 2 pro bowls on a bad team would be a great deal for us. Bradley McDougal was alright nothing spectacular. If we did trade for Adams with already having diggs what would be the long term plan for Blair?

Straight line speed aside, I felt that Diggs played really well at FS for the Hawks. Personally I think that having a safety with 4.5 speed who can diagnose and react quickly to a play is better than a 4.4 safety who is a step slower to react to a play. There are countless safeties who ran in the 4.5s who have been incredibly successful (I think of Harrison Smith) because their reaction time compensates for their straight line speed.

One of the things that made Earl Thomas so special is that he could read and react to a play with the best of them and had that incredible speed.

Nothing wrong with Diggs read and react but go watch film and you will see he is just 1 step away from making a BIG play many of times.. thats the difference between Diggs 4.56 40 speed and Earls 4.4 40 speed. THIS is what i mean by say a guy thats 6 foot with 4.5 speed getting those inches to reach out and knock a ball away or a smaller guy ( like Diggs ) with 4.4 speed allowing them to get that one step closer but diggs is not 4.4 speed.

Diggs read and react is elite never said it wasn't and have said in other threads this same thing. He is just to small and slow to make full use of his elite read and react which tends to make him 1 step slow to recover or react on the ball. It really is to bad. If he was 2 to 3 inches taller or was a 4.43 guy then he would be a top flight Safety. Right now he is in the next tier down. I hope Diggs goes above and beyond and helps Blair and Amadi and gets them close to his reaction speed because both those guys are more gifted physically than Diggs is. Diggs is a solid borderline Probowl/All pro player and i am happy he is a seahawk but i think they could be better because in a single high safety look you need elite speed on the back end. Diggs doesn't come close to elite speed.

Chance to have 3 playoff teams from the same division in 2020:
NFC West 24.4%
AFC North 19.4%
NFC South 15.1%
AFC West 11.8%
AFC South 10.1%
NFC North 9.5%
AFC East 6.3%
NFC East 3.3%

I like looking at this type stuff because this tells you straight up which division is the hardest deepest and STRONGEST in the NFL. NFC West is hands down and it's not even close, the strongest division in football. The AFC North being number 2?!?! i don't see it. Pit is going to be trash Browns and Bengals are a joke and the Ravens will have a easy path to the postseason. In my Eyes the AFC North is like only the 2nd or 3rd best in the AFC lol. The NFC Least is right where it belongs. Dead last.

Devonta Freeman's agent reportedly cuts ties with him as running back faces uncertain NFL future

Freemans agent cut ties with him. What a fool he turned down an offer to play for a playoff contending team next to one of the best QBs in the league over a few more millions in which atlanta is already paying him. Then he threatens to sit out if he doesn't get his money as if next season the right contract will come along. Between him and clowney I think its funny to watch these players to over value themselves and end up sitting at home.

Myles Garrett has out performed Clowney and has 30.5 sacks in 35 starts. Clowney has NEVER had double digit sack numbers in a season and Garrett has all ready had double digit sacks in 2 out of his first 3 years only failing to reach double digit numbers in his rookie season ( when he had 7 sacks in 9 starts )

Garrett 3 seasons 30.5 sacks
Clowney 6 seasons 35 sacks

Definitely impressive... Especially since he only played in 11 games/started 9 games in his rookie season and only played 9 1/2 games last year due to the suspension...

Clowney doesn't get the sack numbers but the guy apply's pressure a lot, he's always disrupting stuff, run game or pass game... Sacks don't really give the full indication of the guy's talent... I"d LOVE to have Clowney back in Seattle for the right price...

As good as Clowney was Garrett was every bit as good and better period.
Disruption rate: 18.5%. Sack rate: 3.5%. Total disruptions: 53. Sacks: 10.

"when he was on the field he was the league's most efficient disruptor with a league-high disruption rate of 18.5 percent. The Browns had a 32.9 percent pressure rate with Garrett on the field, but without him, that number dropped to 21.5 percent. He had a pressure on 17.1 percent of dropbacks in 2019, which was the highest percentage since 2016. Garrett is one of just three players (Aaron Donald and Von Miller are the others) to post a pressure rate of 12 percent or higher in each of the last three years. The former No. 1 overall pick is a top-five IDP target at the defensive line position."

Garrett is on a different level than Clowney and it's not even close.

Right, I wasn't even debating whether Clowney was better, I"m just saying Clowney might not get the sacks but it doesn't indicate how disruptive and talented he is... We're a better defense with him, so I hope we can work something out ... Our defense is the thing holding this team back from another legit Super Bowl run, and we need all the help we can get....

No the Hawks running game is the "one that is holding this team back from another legit Super Bowl run". The Hawks get a good running game going, they will be hard to beat.

Oh yeah Clowney is a beast but he has never been a sack guy. Go back to when the Hawks traded for him. I stated back then he won't get a lot of sacks but he will be a difference maker. I meant that back then and i still feel he can be a very important piece on this defense BUT if i had a choice between Clowney and Garrett that choice is easy for me and it's Garrett every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Garrett is a piece to build around Just like Bobby and Wilson were when they were young.

We rarely disagree, but I gotta disagree here, sure improving the running game always helps, eats the clock up, keeps your D off the field...BUT our defensive stats last year were bad, near the bottom of the league, which is something were not used to seeing in the Pete Carrol era....

  • 31st in punts per drive
  • 32nd in third-downs forced
  • 32nd in early-down first downs
  • 26th in red zone defense
  • 28th in pressure rate
  • 29th in yards after catch allowed
  • 29th in tackles for loss in passing situations
  • 29th in missed tackle
  • 26th in run defense by DVOA
While a solid run game always helps controlling a game, we can't ignore how bad we were last year on D, it's a glaring issue...

I see your point, but TOP will help the D and like you said keep them off the field. For example did the Niners really have that good of a D last season? They had a good running game that helped their D.

the Hawks had the 4th best running game in the NFL last season. The issue was the defense couldn't stop anyone and 2nd string QB's were a nightmare for them. If it wasn't for the defense forcing turnovers they would have been so much worse.

Had the hawks Had Carson and Penny for the playoffs they would have beat GB. Might have beat the 49ers only to get stomped by KC.

No doubt, running game always helps.. Keeps possession, eats time, keeps your D resting on the sideline... Niners running game definitely helped them...

That Chiefs team loved falling behind early in the playoffs and then catching up... I thought they were done in the first playoff game... Definitely thought the Niners had them in the Super Bowl, but they found a way....

If the Hawks had Carson and Penny healthy for the playoffs and were lucky enough to get to the Super Bowl, no way they get stomped by KC. Maybe KC beats them, but it would have been a close game.
