Dallas Morning News' Calvin Watkins reports the Cowboys and Dak Prescott are "not close" to a long-term contact.
They have until July 15 to agree to terms, otherwise Prescott will play out the 2020 season on the franchise tag. That would mean Prescott is betting on himself once again. Playing seasons on the franchise tag is certainly lucrative -- he'd be eligible for a second franchise tag next season, too -- but there's no long-term guarantees. Both parties likely want structure, but Prescott isn't going to settle for anything less than $35 million annually. The Patrick Mahomes contract certainly elevated Prescott's leverage. We'll see if Jerry Jones improves his offerings early this week.

I don't see how Mahomes' contract improved Dak's leverage. Mahomes deserves a shit ton more than Dak and it was always known he would get a huge number.

I agree. Mahomes contract won't be topped for a long while and nobody going be close to it for years and that includes Dak. Dak should take note that Mahomes went with a long term contract. Revenues are heading down and no one knows how long before they head back up. TV contracts may not be worth what they once were going forward. In uncertain times financial security becomes the main goal.

That, and the front end of Mahomes contract is less than Dallas has offered Dak.

Actually I’m seeing 9-14 now. So I was wrong in the prior post. I’m also seeing others I’m not looking it up regardless it’s not great.

9-14 is not good to start off a career but Eli Manning is 32-77. That's horrible.

alot of qb's including mahomes are under .500 against winning teams, i cant find a reliable database though

if im seeing things right, dak is 12-20 against winning teams including playoffs....

I'm not sure either but I was stunned at Eli's numbers

eli is flacco esque......in a big game game, man hes up there with the all timer's you want him.....the rest of the time.....yuck

actually thats a disservice to eli......flacco sucked hes was remarkably a back half of the league qb his entire career. He parlayed an epic 4 game stretch, at the PERFECT time, to glory. Good for him, but he sucked
