So I am going to throw this old tired argument out there again just to see if NOW there is a change of opinion....and I just had this convo with some neighbors...

As we are watching the football Power 5 conferences and of course the networks trying to figure out how to salvage any part of this season....no matter what ...because "There is too much Money at Stake"...

So at the cost of the players safety and possible life they are willing to sacrifice peoples sons at any cost for the sake of revenue?....and what do the players get in return.? A scholarship for the sacrifice?

You know there are kids that are at risk with pre-exiting conditions....someone WILL DIE if they play...with the number of players the odds themselves tell you this..

For DAD and the rest....does that really make sense ?...your still good with this setup?

preexisting you answer your own question.

If they have any problems time to take a year off and the NCA should give them an extra year for them to play. :suds:

Under the current climate, college football should follow the Ivy League's example. Move it to the spring. If it's still bad in the spring, give everyone a redshirt year.

I expected this pandemic to be in its final stages right about now. But... People are stupid, and it's now the worst that it's been.

Someone will die if they don't play too. They'll spend more time with their gang buddies and rioting.

The safest thing to do is to play the games and give university quality healthcare to these student athletes.

Who’s “they”? All football players will be rioting if the season is canceled in the Fall? Will this be a team by team thing? When was the last “riot” that involved the deaths of college football players?

Why place these young adults into harms way?

Going to guess you don't have any family members playing football...or maybe you just don't give a shit...I guess as long as we are entertained....really whats one life I guess? Right?

Well think about it...some of the lineman weigh an excess of 330Lbs...probably some with a history or asthma, diabetes..etc.....These kids play for zero dollars...

Give the kids a choice. They can still go to class and have access to nutrition and strength coaches, but this year does not count towards their eligibility

No. Not all. You said someone.

They don't need to be involved in all that, they need to be at school occupied with football to protect them.

Football is a dangerous... brutal sport. Each year we have kids die from brain injuries suffered while playing the game. We know there’s the risk of paralysis... future CTE.

Now... we have a new threat. Most kids won’t go through a bad time if infected. But, we know some will.

IMO, it’s up to the kids to decide if the risk to them... their family... their community is worth playing. They should not be forced to play just to keep a scholarship.

But, the player and his family/guardian should make informed decisions.

I can’t find where I mentioned “someone” nor where that has anything to do with my response. If a football player is hanging out with “thugs”, then is that player a “thug” or is that player given a pass because he plays sports? Can white guys be “thugs”?

Why can’t a football player peacefully protest? Not sure how you equate being on campus playing football as a form of protection. There was a football player at Duquesne University who allegedly jumped out the window of the upper floors of a dormitory. Where was football to protect him?

100% agree with letting player and parents make the call AND the NCAA granting another year AND the University having to honor any scholarship obligations if the player decides not to play. Forcing a kid to play may be a big mistake.

We need some perspective, the media has politicized the virus and has everyone scared to death, even though there are much greater threats out there. 15 people died of drug overdoses in Franklin county ohio yesterday, 0 from covid. TB killed more people worldwide last month than covid totally. We all take risks for money every day, driving to and from work, doing our jobs, etc. If the players have a condition that puts them at risk, let them choose to play or give them another year. Of course cases are going up, people are out moving around and there is more testing going on. The greatest risk to young football players is the game itself, not the virus!!!! I would love to see the B12 not come out with a conference only schedule, let the others do it, then sue the other leagues for damages!!! We have to live our lives, the virus is not going anywhere, will be there waiting whenever we start things up again, cowering in the house is not life!!

Why give them a choice? Of course they are going to take the risk..why because they are kids and if their intent is to play in the NFL then sitting on a sideline won't get them there and they know it.... and we can see by the activity at all the beaches they ain't thinking about safety for themselves or anyone else..

So I digress...for some positions for my employees I am paying them hazzard pay due to Covid 19....shouldn't these kids get the same?

Are you wearing a mask when you can’t effectively social distance? If memory serves me and without going through previous posts, didn’t you pack a cooler full of food so you didn’t have to go to a restaurant? I was in Detroit last week. No worries with the travel. Contacted the hotel in advance to see what was required of me and whether their restaurant was open. The only change, getting approval by my company and the customer. It appears wearing a mask is beneficial which is a mild inconvenience.

Amazing how NYC is today compared to most of the Southern states who lived their lives. This wasn’t media driven, it was politically driven. I would love to go to the wedding in Texas at the end of August, but I’ll have to wait and see if the bozos, Governor and Lt. Governor, get their acts together. Ask the Houston and Austin medical facilities how ‘living your life’ is working for them. Same with Florida. DeSantis looks lost. I hope Disney’s experiment works as it will possibly provide a blueprint for others, maybe schools, to use. The World and NYC gave the US the blueprint to minimize this. The medical field has learned a lot since January.

Not sure where you got your TB numbers from, but this is what I found. Don’t you go pulling that Poppy Math out before the basketball season. You’re only allow to use it after the football season until the end of the NCAA Tournament.

Duquesne football isn't football. He should have gone to Pitt.

You want to call these good boys "thugs," but they didn't do nothing.

They don't need to be hanging around any peaceful thuggery, they need to get onto the practice fields.

I think you meant to write “You want to call these good ol’ boys “thugs”,...” You started with the “thug” label and have been crayfishing since your first post.

You were the first to use the word thug. Why are you such a liar?
