It had such a memorable, creepy theme song!

The new one are some interesting cases. I have watched a few. A couple thoughts. The one where the black guy's friends leave him at a party in bumfuck Kansas was shocking. I don't know about hate crime but I'm pretty sure he was killed. But for some reason they closed the case.

The one with the hairdresser I think maybe was someone that knew her, possibly the husband. That was such a tight timeline. She's this friendly, outgoing barber and the last guy whose hair she cut only took 17 minutes? (The actor that portrayed him in the reenactment had male pattern baldness I think but still that is a very short amount of time). And I'd want to know who it was that called him as he was leaving to establish the time line in the first place. Also the husband seemed like an asshole and made a point of saying he had a degree in criminology or something. Changing the locks on the doors the day after she went missing was a crazy move. I also think they left out some details in this episode.

On episode 1, Rey's friend is guilty as fuck, or at least knows what really happened. You also got to love the roof camera didn't work that evening.

I want flight records for that day, because he could landed on that roof at that distance from the hotel roof, so he could of been thrown from a helicopter

How did Rey Rivera die? Netflix’s ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ explores questions in 2006 death of Baltimore man

Rivera’s family and Michael Baier, the retired homicide detective who investigated the case, are skeptical of that explanation.

They point to the fact that, despite Rivera suffering a slew of fatal injuries, his eyeglasses and phone were found undamaged. They note the call to his phone from the Stansberry and Associates switchboard, and the company’s immediate move to gag its employees. Additionally, they cite the medical examiner’s decision to mark the cause “undetermined,” rather than “suicide,” as police had concluded.

Baier said he noticed inconsistencies in the hole in the roof and how Rivera’s body was found.

“To me, it looked staged,” he said in the documentary.

Rey went to the top of the parking garage to meet someone. They rammed him with their car and he fell to the roof below. That’s my theory. Get a bag of sand equal to Rey’s weight, calculate the required speed, put the bag on the hood of car, get up to speed, slam on the brakes. See what happens. Check auto body shop records near Porter’s house and all other Argo employees at the time. Somebody had a dented car hood. Rey’s phone and glasses probably came off when hit by the car. The killer picked them up and tossed them off the garage deck and sped away.

Rey wasn’t seen in the hotel because he was never in the hotel.

From the parking garage at 117kg (260 lbs) and 9.1 m (30 feet) his body would hit the roof at 10.5k joules of force (7744 foot pound per 1-2 sq ft). Enough force to punch through the roof deck.

Edit: using a projectile calculator you can hurl an object 30 ft, at 20 degrees up, max height of the arc is 3.5 ft + height of car hood at 25 mph. More than enough to clear the parking garage wall. Rey’s body rode on the hood/windshield til the killer slammed on the brakes. More than enough room on the garage deck to accelerate a car to 25mph and then stop before hitting the wall.

I don’t have the exact measurements. The best I can do is some rough estimates to see if the math works.

My wife pointed out it was three employees from his company that ‘went up on the roof and saw the hole’. It kind of smacks of misdirection.

Yep, how convenient his 3 coworkers found that hole

Nothing creepier than Robert Stack randomly narrating in an alley....haven't seen the new one, but not sure how that can be topped.

The phone was undamaged and in perfection condition, so were glasses. Even if they throw them from the parking garage there would have been some damage. Glasses probably would be broken.

i think it was definitely staged. I think his friend has a big part of it...I think people that work for him probably have a part in it too. Inside job...nobody speaking. Yeah it is sketchy, his 3 coworkers found it also.

I mean did this guy have a computer? Did they check phone records that could have been deleted by someone?
It doesn’t seem like they were doing all that they could...I know they have more technology know but too many sketchy things going on.

Did they really not bring Stansbury into questioning at all? Obviously, he lawyered up but I mean you gotta be persistent. Doesn’t seem like anyone forced their hand, at least for too long.

My youngest brother used to watch horror movies no problem, this show came on and he went around locking all the doors.

my dad asked him how he could watch nightmare on elm street with no issues, and freaks out over this show.

he responded, this is real, the other is not

Pretty good revival.

I wish we got more than just 6 episodes though.

Also, I would have liked it if we got more episodes that dealt with stuff other than true crime. Out of those 6 eps, there were 5 true crime eps and only 1 non-crime ep. I don't mind true crime being a majority of the eps, but maybe just give us a few more eps about stuff like cryptids, lost cities, treasure hunts, etc.

This is why the name is bogus of the show. I tried it the opening wasn’t anything close to it. Should’ve changed the same.

Used to watch the original show all the time in the 90s with my parents... This was an easy draw for me.

They did a pretty good job with this show. Definitely brought back the same vibe. Wish it was more than 6 episodes, but I'm sure its all going to plan. We'll see more in the near future.

They could do a better job with giving us more geographical detail. Maps or aerial views. It doesn't do a good enough job painting the "scene" as the original show did. Some of these new episodes did a better job than others, but still could use more.
