I'd take:

Cousins
Wilson
Brady
Rodgers
Brees
Ryan

Maybe Wentz. I'm still a little cautious about injuries.
If I had to pay a next contract to any of these (like Dak)
Wilson
Brees
Maybe Ryan.
Just my opinion.

You have never heard a single Cowboy fan say he is elite. (Just better than Wentz who Eagle fans think is elite) Cowboy fans dont think either is elite. (People way over use that word)

Yes! People way way way overuse the word elite.

Remember sports fans: when everyone becomes elite, then no one is elite.

I agree, but Dak is elite, Cowboys fans keep telling us he is very special indeed.

He's not quite Mahomes, sure, but $40 mil a year now seems about right.

Lock Dak up with a 10-year, $400 million contract Jerry!

if he couldnt hold out later. (the devil is in the details)
10 year contracts even for 400 mil would be in the cowboys favor. (barring injury in the 1st 3 or 4 years)
Unless he suddenly just sucked.

Those who know my style here know that I LOVE playing devil's advocate, I just that type of critical thinker.

This is Risky move.

A) he could be a few bad hits from being taken down a few pegs.

B) There are a few players that have changed their style of play after signing that big deal.

IMO having a elite QB that has not even touched his ceiling because of his age and experience. He is worth it but these factors got to be considered.

What has Dak done to deserve this elite QB money?

So - Whataburger is building a couple of restaurants in/near KC.

Mahomes is a self avowed Whataburger junkie.

Coincidence?

I think not.

you know if a player could (is willing to) think hey an employer says I will give 450 mil to play your career here for the next ten years. That should be an easy yes. Not how to penny pinch some extra out of that.

Speaking of baseball, I remember when A-Rod got a contract that was more than the organization he was going to, cost.

Mahomes definitely had this leverage. Chiefs pretty much had no choice. Is he sustainable? Will he end up being injury prone? So many variables that could happen. Then how much more they can build around him!? I guess we'll see.

Hairs are sticking up on the back of my neck and I'm not even a KC fan.

While all true.
I would have taken this risk easily.
Dont think you will see any Chief fans bitching about this signing.

I don't care about the exacts of what Mahomes is going to make over the first 5 years. The fact is that the Cowboys are now going to have to offer more than they were to get a deal done with Dak. The price just went up for young starting QBs. Cowboys have played the contract situation with Dak terribly from the start. They should have tried to be the first to get a deal done instead of Goff and Wentz getting deals and now Mahomes.
Of course you don't because it doesn't fit you're moronic narrative. Fact is if Mahomes signed a year deal he wouldn't be getting 40M per.

Look at Wilson did in his first 4 and compare.
you moving the goal post now? Those early playoff wins was more the defense. We'll see how this progresses but the last two years aren't all that.

I just responded to your question as to why he deserves elite money.
