lol - Sure, they hammer out a CBA when a global pandemic is still raging and who knows if hockey can be played. Only in the NHL.

Leipold must have compromising photos of Bettman.

It’s pretty annoying that they’re a) keeping a hard cap and b) not making it flexible based on income taxes.

I don't see any of that changing while Bettman is still commissioner. Also, I think a) is certainly more likely than b) and with current NHL owners, even a) is a longshot, in my opinion.

So that means the either the Panthers, Lightning, Stars(fuck Dallas), Golden Knights, Thrashers or the Seattle whatevers should win most of the Cups in the foreseeable future. Makes wagering easier therefore I am in favor. Just barely.

/nah, on second thought get rid of the hard cap.

Meh, they never really deserved that since that was a Philly offer sheet that they matched to keep one of their few good players (at the time). They were forced into it, unlike Vancouver or NJ or Minny etc. who all pulled straight up circumvention.

What sucks about Minnesota getting away with it is those two contracts led directly to the last lockout. They should be punished for that shit.

gonna call bullshit on that one.

that contract was approved by the league when presented.
for them to change the rules AFTER THE FACT and continue to punish one team is fucked.
now that they are changing the rule because it either
1. was bullshit anyway or
2. a team was potentially not going to be able to field a team because of it or
3. it was easily circumvented by LTIR, unless one team has an advantage to retire a guy and pay him for a "management role" to fuck another team over
and have a chance to limit the damage on that the one team is still facing.... and they just say. nope, fuck them. everyone else is ok, but fuck those guys specifically over there.

It’s funny so long as it isn’t happening to your team.

*stares longingly at first round pick the Leafs had to move to dump Patrick Marleau’s cap hit to fit all of their superstars under the cap in a lost season*

Not thrilled if true. Laviolette and Gallant are far better options. Unless they just didn't want the gig.
