I think Jefferson is close but I'd have to agree.King George is the best character.

I saw it in the theater twice (DC and Baltimore) and had the same Hamilton, Lafayette/Jefferson, Mulligan/Madison....I think the king was the same too.I saw Hamilton live a few months back (just before pandemic hit) and now watched this. I actually thought quite a few of the performers were better in the live one that this videotaped live one. Burr and Hamilton were both better IMO...among others. Funny how that happens. Considering this is the original cast, including the main guy as Hamilton. Granted, the recording was from 2016, so for sure they've improved upon it over the years so that probably plays in quite a bit.
Jefferson is solid.I think Jefferson is close but I'd have to agree.
I might do that on a later viewing but that would be way too distracting for me. There is a lot to process but at the same time that is what gives it appeal for repeat viewings.
The only knock I have on this is that Lin-Manuel Miranda is doing the heavy lifting here and while he is a good singer, every other cast member outclasses him with extraordinary talent. The whole thing comes off like watching Tim Tebow play in the NFL. Miranda is a really likable guy and he is still impressive its just that I'm not sure he is impressive on the very highest levels. The composition is crazy good, though. Its captivating for almost the entire 2.5 hour run time.
Also, I google Hamilton and the first thing that comes up is a pretentious CNN opinion piece about how Hamilton is 'problematic' in a post-Obama BLM era. I hate 2020. Hamilton isn't a populist piece. It doesn't have to be.
Jefferson is solid.
but King George always put a smile on my face.

I thought they all did really well. I haven't watched the original cast on Disney+ yet.
I wish I had seen it with different Alexanders. I think the first time I saw it (DC) he was the understudy, then he was the guy in Baltimore.Yeah Its probably worth it to see the original cast but I think unless you are really into the play they all are good.

oh he definitely is...but also very necessary.Saw the Disney+ version.
but it seemed like king George was the comic relief. Which is why you would say that.
I have not seen it yet. Wanted to and just never got around to it.
I will watch on Disney+ at some point.
Have you seen Book of Mormon, I hear that is really good. I would like to catch that too.
Highly recommended. It's hilarious.
not to be a naysayer... But I had mixed reviews... First off, I am not a good judge, because I am not big on musicals... and when it is NON FICTION, I have a habit of looking things up during watching... As a "ARE THEY ACCURATE"...
But I think my biggest complaint is that I wasn't a fan of Miranda... I think it is clear how he is the least talented one on stage... and it is hard to have the MAIN CHARACTER like that...
I definitely agree King George was the Best...
I was referring to The Book of Mormon. I haven't seen Hamilton yet, though I plan to eventually.
They really should do this sort of this with every Broadway playso... read posts before posting my own?? Thanks for the advice.
