I realize this isn't a TV show or Movie but the play Hamilton will start touring in the spring and it is entertainment.

I saw it on Tuesday and it was by far the greatest play I ever saw and probably 2nd only to the Seahawks Super Bowl win for me when it comes to live experiences.

If it comes to your town, get tickets. It is well worth the experience.

I will watch on Disney+ at some point.

Have you seen Book of Mormon, I hear that is really good. I would like to catch that too.

hoping people understand it's not a film adaptation or anything like that, just a multi-camera recording of the staged play.

it's very good, but i actually like LMM's In the Heights a lot more.

There was a lottery for tickets for a show in Hartford a few years back where we won so my daughter and I saw Hamilton 2nd row center Orchestra. The best seats I've ever had!

Watched the original cast production Saturday. It was still excellent.

We played with CC enabled and being able to see the words of the songs was really helpful all around. I would recommend it.

I might do that on a later viewing but that would be way too distracting for me. There is a lot to process but at the same time that is what gives it appeal for repeat viewings.

The only knock I have on this is that Lin-Manuel Miranda is doing the heavy lifting here and while he is a good singer, every other cast member outclasses him with extraordinary talent. The whole thing comes off like watching Tim Tebow play in the NFL. Miranda is a really likable guy and he is still impressive its just that I'm not sure he is impressive on the very highest levels. The composition is crazy good, though. Its captivating for almost the entire 2.5 hour run time.

Also, I google Hamilton and the first thing that comes up is a pretentious CNN opinion piece about how Hamilton is 'problematic' in a post-Obama BLM era. I hate 2020. Hamilton isn't a populist piece. It doesn't have to be.

I mean, the musical touches on how Hamilton was kind of a dick and cheated on his wife and all that...and Miranda gets into that a little in his Drunk History episode.

History isn't always pretty.

Ew, Drunk History. After watching a couple of seasons of that I'm good with never seeing another episode. Its basically 'history is problematic' the show. Which I guess some people need but man it gets tiring. I can't wait for future generations to judge us.

I don't know how someone can get through Hamilton thinking the founding fathers were saints.

I agree, it should all be taken with a grain of salt.

but that doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate the things that made them great and eventually led to the country being what it is.

Saw Hamilton over the weekend. Was very impressed. The guy who played King George almost stole the show. All around amazing show.

I saw Hamilton live a few months back (just before pandemic hit) and now watched this. I actually thought quite a few of the performers were better in the live one that this videotaped live one. Burr and Hamilton were both better IMO...among others. Funny how that happens. Considering this is the original cast, including the main guy as Hamilton. Granted, the recording was from 2016, so for sure they've improved upon it over the years so that probably plays in quite a bit.

King George is the best character.

Jonathan Groff from Mindhunter on Netflix played him when we went two years ago......Got free tickets, no way I would pay that much to see a play......
