Another name that has been floated is the Washington Warriors, as it would allow the team to keep some similar elements such as the arrow used in some of the team's designs.

However, the name is drawing some backlash on social media.

"Folks tweeting about Washington Warriors with feathers and arrows on the logo missed the whole damn point," Rebecca Nagle posted on Twitter. "Native American cultures and our tribes are real, contemporary, diverse and ALIVE. We are not cartoons. And we are not mascots."

somebody needs to tell these goofy mfr’s a warrior isn’t always associated with an Indian. They can go pound sand. All these fools are doing is really creating hate.

What is wrong with Warriors? Warriors is not a racist name. Anybody can be a warrior. As far as the helmet goes The Spare logo are on many college and High school football teams. There is no way Nike, Fedex, or Pepsi are going to protest the spear Football helmet or Warrior nickname. We are not disrespecting a skin color here.

There will certainly be multiple layers. You can add to that the changes to the band, the fight song. It is an organization that has struggled for a long time. A cool new uniform and a team that can win some would certainly help. Whoever mentioned the Caps uniform change to black, blue and gold was right on. It never felt like the same team. Then too Ovechkin and having a chance year in and year out might have helped more than the uniform. If Kerrigan makes the team and gets two sacks he becomes the franchise sack leader and not the Redskins all time sack leader. In twenty years it won't matter anymore.

I agree far as naming the Skins the Warriors as every culture, ethnic group etc has a word meaning warrior. The thing is that with the present atmosphere being what it is. It gives the name change crew that much more power. Couple that with DC politicians/businesses saying no to relocating back to DC w/o a name change and NIKE saying they will not sell any Skins gear till a change takes place. The name change crew has a lot going their way right now.

As the word Redskins has been used as a slur and Snyder can be a a dickhead of massive proportions. I think the Skins were #1 on the name change hitlist. But I've seen articles that have mentioned other teams with NA related names.
