UFC Fight Island is set for its premiere on July 11 and it is a doozy. UFC president Dana White joined ESPN's First Take on Tuesday to reveal that UFC 251 will feature three championship bouts on Yaz Island in Abu Dhabi.

"So, everybody has been dying to find out where Fight Island is, so today I'm here to announce that Fight Island is on Yaz Island in Abu Dhabi. Just like I said about Florida, how the commission and the government worked with us there to pull off this fight. Same thing with Abu Dhabi. These guys have been amazing partners in everything that we've ever done with them," White said in announcing Fight Island's location.

Fight Island's location isn't all that surprising considering the promotion's history with Abu Dhabi and the city's willingness to build facilities to fit what the UFC wanted in the past. Now they are doing it for an ongoing basis that will likely last until pandemic restrictions begin to lift for sports with live crowds around the globe.

The first fight card on Fight Island, UFC 251, is going all-in. White wanted to kick off the UFC's return from its two-month shutdown with three title fights at UFC 249, but was only able to keep two championship bouts on that card. He'll now get to move ahead with three at UFC 251, barring any unforeseen changes.

"We're going UFC 251, Saturday, July 11, in Abu Dhabi. And we literally just got (Gilbert) Burns vs. (Kamaru) Usman done. So that card: Usman vs. Burns, (Alexander) Volkanovski vs. (Max) Holloway, Peter Yan vs. (Jose) Aldo, Jessica Andrade vs. Rose Namajunas, and (Amanda) Ribas vs. (Paige) VanZant," White declared.

Welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns is out of the UFC 251 main event after testing positive to COVID-19. Burns (19-3) was supposed to fight champion Kamaru Usman (16-1) next weekend at the fight promotion's first event at Fight Island on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He trained for the bout in Florida and traveled from The Sunshine State to Las Vegas. He was tested upon arrival in Las Vegas and the test results came back positive. His brother, Herbert Burns, and coach Greg Jones also tested positive for the virus. The three were quarantined and did not board the chartered flight to the Middle East. With Burns out of the event, the fight card now features two world title bouts. Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and former champion Max Holloway rematch and former featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Petr Yan face off for the vacant bantamweight title. It's unclear if Burns will be replaced or if Usman will be pulled from the event as well.

rumors is that masvidal could replace burns. shit will get real if this happens. That's a better fight and was supposed to be who is in there anyways.

There’s been no official announcement but from UFC officers in regards to the standing of Usman’s subsequent title protection. Nonetheless, with simply seven days left till the champ is scheduled to guide the UFC 251 pay-per-view card in Abu Dhabi, it could appear that point is of the essence.

That is exactly what he is going to do. I think Usman is going to try to take him down the entire fight.

In the United States, the main card of UFC 251 is available via pay per view on ESPN+, which requires a monthly or annual subscription. The PPV price for UFC 251 is $64.99 for current subscribers. For new subscribers, a bundle price of UFC 251 and an ESPN+ annual subscription is $84.98.

But then you're still on the hook for 252 and 253. Fight island is setting up some serious bouts. Both are going to be very good main cards. But yeah, Dana White ain't in it for the charity.
