The fact that he got a big strike zone, knew it and exploited it makes him better. If the other pitchers wanted the same, they should have built up a reputation of having incredible control. He had to earn that big strikezone

I think Maddux using roids would have hurt him more than helped.

There’s been plenty of scrawny guys busted. I won’t throw out a down right accusation, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Chipper Jones is my all time favorite player, and I assume he was using.

Yeah,him and Glavine used to be annoying as hell but you can't really blame them. If an umpire calls a strike that's a few inches outside and you're good enough to keep hitting that spot, you're a great pitcher. Plus like you said, when in doubt the umpires go by reputation. But it works that way for hitters too.

Just bc they are scrawny doesn't mean they weren't using some kind of PED's to increase for example stamina. That being said, I'm not one of those guys that thinks most or all top level talent was using. That's just nonsense imo
