Guice will be on the team for sure, barring injuries

AP should be on the squad, he still has gas in the tank

Love can still be a practice squad player

I think Gibson will be listed as a WR, but be used as a running back too

That leaves the 3rd down back open. I would say JD has the edge because of experience as a 3rd down running back, but Barber could still make the squad since he's the better back. I like to have a receiving back as the 3rd down back, disappointed Chris Thompson left

If Love goes to the PS, there is ZERO chance he doesn’t get picked up by another team.

Love can't be on the PS, some team will claim him. Now if there's a matter related to how best to "hide" him from those claims, then outside of making the 53, he would still have to have an unrecovered injury that qualifies him to the 8 week, 3 person recall injury list.

Almost every offseason, we think we have too many RB's. And on the rare occasion we're right. The only way to show we're in good shape will be if Adrian Peterson is cut and if Guice stays healthy. It's harsh to say it, but it's true.

As I stated in post #5 I'll be shocked if AP is cut for many reasons.

he hasnt shown he is slowing down to the point where he is ineffective . so i agree with your point . now we could see that in TC but i doubt it

I don't understand why you would be shocked. Don't you want to see Gucie on the field? With the new offense and the drafting of Gibson makes a strong case for AP to be cut.

Now that Williams is gone, I'm not sure AP even wants to be here anymore. He says the right things of course but ideally, he likely would want to be released. I'm not sure there are many other starting spots viable for him to compete for either.

Guice has not proven yet that he can stay healthy. Love has not proven yet that he can even play. Gibson has not proven yet that he is NFL worthy. AP is a future hall of famer that has not missed a beat yet and would be a great mentor to all of our young RBs. Besides that, AP will come into camp in as good, if not better, shape than any of them. Next question?

as much as i like the young guys potential they have to do it on the field . dean , bless his heart , skips over that

if the youngsters come through big then you look at things differently but so far none has proven anything good or bad

You cant forecast injuries. This is a young team, by having AP on this team just takes away carries from the younger guys. We now have two young big backs. Guice and Gibson. 3rd down backs should be JD and Love. That leaves Barber which can do more than AP. If there is a injury in TC then I can see AP sticking around. I just dont think AP fits on what S. Turner wants to do with this offense.

I love the potential of our young RBs but all of them can learn so much from a veteran like AP. Since AP has been with us he has arguably been our best player and his conditioning and work ethics has been second to none. He has stayed injury free for the most part and as you said, he has not shown any decline in his ability to this point. I can see this possibly being his last year with us but I can't see him not making the roster this year.

I think S. Turner already knows how valuable AP will be to this young team and if not I think RR will make it known to him.

well it doesnt what they did in FA and in the draft. If AP was going to be a big part of this offense why even bother drafting Gibson and saying Gibson would be a Mcaffery type player.

Because we are rebuilding and this will take some time. Hopefully all of our young guns will be good in time but several people on this board, including you, are expecting too much too soon.

Guys, it just makes absolutely zero sense to have the oldest RB in the NFL on a rebuilding team for another year. It was so successful last year that we had the worst offense in the NFL. And stylistically it doesn't work, because he's not at all effective in the passing game - never has been - and that certainly doesn't help the development of a much needed passing game.

The defense can be special. Sure the offense is probably going to be average but I don't think we are as bad as people think. We have the best defense in the division by far, hat should mean something.

Plus if we are rebuilding like you say why keep an aged RB when we have younger options?
