Why do they have to be encouraged? They should be smart enough by that point in their lives to know what to do and how to do it. If they are not that smart, then they don’t need to voting.

Did they not take a government/civics class in high school?

Okay, okay....we'll take the blame for 19 of 'em if they didn't that little tidbit in high school. But that all we are taking the blame for.

As long as it was their decision. I dont think people should register to bote because someone made them or they were pressured into. Thats how we get misinformed voters. If they hadnt registered prior its likely they didnt feel they knew enough to do so. I didnt register until like my 3rd year of college

Hmmm, interesting. Government/Economics is a required course here...or was when I was a principal. Pretty sure it still is. Usually taken during their senior year. Many (if not most) schools provide voter registration if the students turn 18 while taking the course.

Oh, it isn't a course requirement, just offered. In fact, some schools allow students time to go vote on election day if they are eligible. Hell, in some of the small towns the school is the election site!

i get the encouragement to vote but i apparently have a different view of voting than most people in that its a right to vote so therefore a right not to vote as well. so if people dont want to vote I dont have issue with their choice. as well as what i said earlier about rather have informed voters than not.

It’s not like they take roll call.

Vote or don’t it’s only important to me that you are at least an informed on the issues voter and not just a party line voter or vote for the one with the best haircut

Yeah, me too. I'd rather have people not vote at all than have those "sheeple" like people vote just like someone tells them to instead of informing and thinking for themselves.
