Norvell on the Hot Seat?

Seems like an overreaction, but I've seen a lot responses to this saying he should be fired. Its a bad look, but a fire-able offense? Seems excessive. Also, seems like an overreaction to sit out on by the players.

Has to be. If his players revolt, he is screwed.

Any teams that scheduled Florida State, now have a guaranteed win. West Virginia and Boise State are happy. Of course, their SOS will go in the toilet.

Samford will still probably lose, unless FSU forfeits.

The pent up anger the young have in 2020 is being released. Covid19, stay home, get bored, black man killed by non-black police, the media giving attention to all the riots, I expect either the coaches get fired or the players won't play too hard for him. I don't see any other outcome with what is going on in the nation.

Can’t see them forfeiting. Cooler heads will likely prevail.

But yeah, I’d happily take a win via forfeit rather then losing (probably badly) to a mediocre ACC team.

There's going to have to be a miracle for this to be rectified. He flatout lied about having extremely important discussions with his team. If they can't trust the coach, there's no way they're going to go out there and play for him. I know I wouldn't. Why bust your ass for a guy who doesn't care about you?

I don't see FSU forfeiting but they will replace Norvell if it comes to it and probably get out of paying his guaranteed contract. Why would he lie about that to the Athletic for? Trying to look cool? What an idiot.

Already a guaranteed win for us. Their playing hard is pretty irrelevant to that. The only question is if we break the record for worst loss in Tallahassee history instead of just tying it. :hammer:

Wow really surprise to see these are Florida State players revolting. I always thought that those guys had a strong sense of brotherhood & loyalty to their coaches...

They are a tight knit bunch. Disciplined, committed, hard working dudes. A real band of brothers.

Why would Norvell do this? It makes no sense. I hope he’s able to somehow save some face and hopefully let this pass. It may end up being a fatal mistake though especially during these hypersensitive, nuclear reactive times and that sucks. I really liked him as ASU’s OC and he did a bang up job at Memphis. I hope he didn’t blow his big opportunity.

He didn't. The team is moving on. Maybe they got a quick history lesson, locally. These 4 and 5 star under-achievers
have no leg to stand on and no one to cry to. They get to work or we play with younger folks. We haven't produced
any powerful winning seasons in 3 years with them...it wouldn't be any different without them.

So the players are upset the coach wasn't totally straight with them. He probably had talked to a few players about what's going on and he just stretched the truth. Bad on him. But I sense a lot of prima donna nonsense because most of these players have probably gotten through life so far with Mama, coaches, teachers, etc. bending over backwards not to hurt their widdle feelings. Toughen up, Francis. Over the rest of your life you'll be lied to by bosses, wives, cops, business associates, every politician you might meet and the DMV. Your preacher might even tell you a lie just to keep the peace on something. Go tell your coach you think he let you down and give him a fair chance to set things straight. Act like men.

What’s been going on is unacceptable by FSU’s standards. I think you got the right guy. Norvell’s a hell of a coach and now he’s landed at a big time program. I expect him to right the ship.
