Just like coronavirus won’t kill 100,000 people?

Until they actually start playing playoff games, there are a lot of ways this could go sideways.

Remember back in March when the games were still being played? Then 1 player got sick and everything shut down. If people start getting sick, that could happen again.
Yeah..."done deal" seems extreme. Likely or even very likely? sure...but who knows what might happen.

Finishing this season is actually the easy part. Negotiating next season is gonna be the difficult part, especially considering league revenue will be down which means the salary cap will be down which means there's potential for an owner's vs players situation over the money split. Complicating things further is the crowd size (and if you can have them by then) is still unknown. You'd think by the end of the year you'll have SOME fans, but maybe not 100% capacity which again hurts revenues.
Might have mentioned this earlier....would not bother me if this was a reversal of the cap spike. at that time, owners asked players to do it incrementally. Players balked. Hope the players ask them not to lower the cap but maybe just keep it more steady in coming years to "even it out" and owners say thanks but no thanks.

Of course, not all owners will want to do this as lowering the cap will hurt them competitively.

It would hurt many owners financially, too, as many would owe luxury tax. I heard a journalist on the radio saying that cap smoothing is likely because the pros are greater than the cons.

It isn't the end of the world if a business takes a loss for a year. Isn't that happening to the rest of the business world? It probably isn't even a loss, but a less than projected profit for most.

MLB sickens me more than most, all of those minor leaguers just cut loose.

Yeah, god forbid team owners take a hit during this recession like almost every other damn person in the world.

For the Lakers that would be: Rockets, Nuggets, Jazz, Jazz, Hornets, Pistons, Raptors and Cavaliers.

I think the Pistons and Cavs are the only ones that wouldn't be among the 22 so the next 2 would be Pacers and Kings.
