Former Pirate update: Reese McGuire, #1 draft pick in 2013, was arrested in Dunedin, Florida for allegedly exposing himself to unsuspecting shoppers in a strip mall parking lot. Evidently, he didn't get in too much trouble because he's playing today against the Pirates. He even hit a home run.

Jays say they're aware of McGuire's recent arrest

I should have known something was up with him when I saw his goatee -- a sure sign of sexual deviance. :thumb:

I'm asking this from an outsiders prospective. I don't live in the PA area or OH area, but I grew up a Pirates fan. So my question is how long will community continue to support (I use that term loosely) the once mighty Pirates? They are inept for the most part, have a good year or two every 5-8 years then need to rebuild because they can't keep players when they hit the peak for contact. Just wondering, would a new owner make a difference/would Nutting ever sell??

Really most everyone gave up on them. Granted a few years back they averaged over 2 million fans a season when they made the playoffs but that dropped off drastically after they "rebuild" started again.

It is a shame that Nutting won't sell but it is making him money due to the TV deals. PNC Park is still a great park to watch baseball and my concern is IF they ever get good again it will be time for a new Stadium and will just move.

The only saving grace for them is the amount of older fans that have fond memories of the 70's and early 90's.

Yep, that is me. I first started following when Roberto played for them. Not when he started playing for them (not that old :nono: ) but his last few years.

I missed out on Clemente but witnessed the 79 win, buc nights in peanut heaven in the 80's, the slide and 20 years of nothing.

26-man:
Stallings, Bell, Frazier, Newman, Moran, Reynolds, Dyson, Polanco
Maile, Murphy, Osuna, Gonzalez, Heredia, Riddle, (or Kramer/Tucker if they don't keep 3 catchers)
Archer, Williams, Musgrove, Keller
Crick, Kela, Rodriguez, Feliz, Stratton, Santana, Burdi, Holland

I think the above 26-man seems likely. I think they will start Holland in the pen to stretch him out more and go with a 4-man rotation to open the season with 3 catchers. Anyone I'm forgetting? This is assuming Brault and Kuhl start out on the DL/rehabbing.

I havent been paying attention.. since there is no season.

College SS and a bunch of college pitchers. I don't know anything about these guys but national people seemed to give the team good review for the draft so that's something. Guess if there won't be a minors season you'll want guys who have at least come college development.

Pirates' Edgar Santana Issued 80-Game PED Suspension

More worried about who will pitch on this team.

As for DH they can’t even use the fan of the night.

They are going to bad and bad in the sense of real bad.
Yeah that pitching group as a whole is....oof. Williams and Musgrove are fine middle guys but that's the problem is they're going to be the top two starters which is less than ideal to say the least. Holland and Brault are back-end guys at best. Just gotta hope Keller takes a step forward and Kuhl comes back strong, and even then that group doesn't have a ton of numbers. Also gotta hope you get the not bad versions of Crick, Rodriguez and Feliz in the bullpen with a whole lotta nothing after that.
