NFL Network asked Hopkins (sounds like a phone interview) if he was the best. He absolutely believes so.
Said if he had Drew Brees imagine what his #'s would be (in reference to M. Thomas)
Said if he had Matt Ryan throwing him the ball his #'s would be different. (in reference to Julio Jones)
He said compared to who he had throwing him the ball. LOL

To be fair he did defend his ex team to some extent but I just thought wow. He definitely threw his ex-QBs under the bus. :heh:

No. I didnt take it as Murray since Murray has never thrown him a ball yet in the NFL.

But I dont think of Watson as some slouch at the QB position.

I'm pretty sure he was referencing the utter trash the Texans threw out there year after year before Watson was drafted. @PDay8810 's example is the perfect one. Then how about follow that up with Brock fucking Osweiller who makes Mitch Trubisky look accurate.

I mean, hard to disagree with the guy, but really doesn't help when you bring up drama and you're a current player in the NFL. Just puts more media attention on you and the team in kind of a bad light.

He didn’t call Watkins a slouch. He was talking about consistency with one QB.

He was excited about playing with Murray, but more excited about the potential of playing with him for many years.

There was no drama. In the interview he was talking about how he was friends and trains in the off-season with Michael Thomas and Julio Jones. They would get in debates about who was the best. And Hopkins would talk about not having pro bowl QBs throwing to him his entire career.

think some of you are missing my point.
I have no problem with what he said. most if not all is true.
but it is weird for a player of his caliber to throw others under the bus.
& his ex-Qbs definitely got thrown under the bus.

He was talking of the caliber of a Drew Brees not the consistency of one QB. make no mistake about that.

To your point though. It does sound like Hopkins, Julio & Thomas has a healthy competition with one another.
Instead of a typical bickering trash talking (of each other)
Sounds like they all train together at some point & time.

dunno about that.
He was asked if he thought he was the best & he answered it.
I found it refreshing from the typical PC answers we get.

I got no problem with him being honest about his talent.
Which is why it was outta line to point out he had bad qb's throwin him the ball.

Video from 2019
  • Has nothing but respect for Julio and Thomas (2nd and 3rd on his list)
  • Throws the previous QBs under the bus
Hopkins always been confident, nothing new to see here

You're still throwing other people under the bus. Yes it's obvious Drew Brees and Matt Ryan are better than what the Texans had, but blaming prior quarterbacks still generates media hype and may come back to haunt the team. If the Cardinals are doing terrible this year or Hopkins is not doing well, you KNOW the question will come up... and that brings drama into the situation.

A real class act.

That's where I'm at. "Are you the best WR?" "Yep, I have the best hands, great speed, good route running etc." vs. "Those guys appear better because my QBs suck." Yah... that's a real good way to put it.

Now don't get me wrong, a great QB is a HUGE asset for a WR and a good reason for their production, but don't start throwing people under the bus and basically saying, "All my QBs mostly sucked!" Most people already know it, so it's just a low class move for you to say it.

A guy like this is the first to bail on a team when the going gets tough.
