Got this offer:
I give Diontae Johnson
I get Michael Gallup

I like Johnson,but Gallup is interesting player also. If it wasn’t for CeeDee Lamb I would certainly accept this offer. So what do you think about this offer? Thumbs up, thumbs down?

I like Gallup better strictly as a player/prospect going forward and who knows what Johnson will have at QB going forward. I'd personally take Gallup, but I can see why some would lean Diontae (clearer path to usage).

I'd take Gallup. Plus Dallas has 5 prime time games and Thanks Giving which I personally like.

Think I see that was as a potential wash either way in a seasonal format. I guess if I had to chose, Gallup (if dynasty) because of the QB situation. Although there's no guarantee Dak stays with the 'boys since they have yet to hammer out a long-term deal. Probably a 70-80% chance he does stay, but if he opts for the tag this yr - it could be a bidding war the following. ...

Yep..but at least with Dak and the Boys, there is at least a chance for long term continuity. Theres no getting around big Ben being short on time

I think there are too many mouths to feed on the Cowboys. You have a top 3 RB, and the higher-paid Cooper, the new toy in Lamb... i would fear Gallup is the lower-paid, lower-draft-pedigree odd man out in this picture.

Not many teams (if any) can support a top 3 RB and 3 WR.

I guess another thing to consider is, Cooper just got the big money, long term contract, Lamb as a #1, gets 4, and an option 5th year, Gallup is a UFA in '22. Most likely gonna be elsewhere soon. Very real possibility he's traded within the calendar year...could be a good thing, could be bad.. Guess ive talked myself into sitting in the fence here

Could be an accurate description of Johnson or Gallup, only Gallup has top 30 season to his name in his young career. Juju and Washington have higher draft capital than Johnson too just like Coop and Lamb. But can't argue a WR41 finish from Johnson as a rookie, albeit with top QB and top WR injured last year.

I think it comes down to whether or not you think a healthy Juju will take more from Johnson or do you think Lamb will take more from Gallup.

Sometimes following the money helps

Cooper dead cap hit the next few seasons:
2020 = 40mil
2021 = 28mil
2022 = 6mil, that's a huge drop off!

Also coincides when they'd need to resign Gallup.

Same can be said for PIT - if they don't sign juju to a long term deal, could be a ton of opportunity for Johnson no matter who the QB of the future is

I came here making a case for Gallup, but think this is more personal preference/how you foresee these teams making future decisions.

I think I made this even muddier, sorry!

Another angle: a lot of hype for Johnson this off season, people are down on Gallup, but I think most would agree Gallup was the better prospect coming into the league.

So is other owner trying to capitalize on the hype?

Again, my personal choice would be Gallup, but it's a tough one

I'm not sure the Steelers are sold on JuJu. With Antonio and all that drama gone, i feel there were higher expectations that he didnt reach.

Maybe some of that had to do with the revolving QB situation. But as we have seen, sometimes the WR2 just cant perform when thrust into the WR1 role.

Johnsons arrow may be pointing up.

Well, Harold from what I've read here - it looks like a slight lean towards Gallup - but darn close.

I sort of think a decent season from JuJu would be a good thing for Johnson. Keep that top defender on JuJu.
Really on the fence on this one. With Ben back, I see Johnson having a stellar season, then on the con side don't see Ben being around much longer. So this could be a good sell high time. Gallup had a nice season last year, but with all the weapons the Cowboys have his ceiling is getting capped I think....maybe, guess I'm just not sure about his ceiling. :gaah: However could be a good buy low time. Maybe CeeDee takes a season or two to have a effect.
Could be Gallup over takes Cooper a the WR1. Last half of last season Gallup was the WR1. Wish the contract battle between Dak and the Cowboys would get ironed out, because that is one more thing to worry about.

Think I'm going to sit tight and pass on the offer, but it's not easy to do. Have no shares of Gallup and would not mind buying low on him this off season. Just can't convince myself trading Johnson is buying low. Generally speaking folks have Johnson arrow pointing up and Gallup pointing down. Myself I have Gallup having a similar season as last year, but Johnson making a big jump.

Also possible Juju hits up the slot more, leaving the CB1 outside for Johnson...

Yes this is possible. JuJu was MIA last season, so Johnson saw the CB1 covering him at times.
Got to be impressed that with QBs like Mason Rudolph, Devlin Hodges that Johnson had the season he had. Really can't get worse then that at QB.

Lot of good points made. Think it is real close, but being unsure, think the wise thing to do is sit tight.

I like Gallup ALOT. This is a deal where like @leftypower said. I sit tight. Bc I don't know...

this. And they like them some Johnson. Shockingly, look at his numbers with those qbs, especially if your in a ppr league, something else to consider....

I don’t want to guess on which player is going to be better long term. But in the short term it has to be Johnson based on opportunity.

Gallup is the 3rd best WR on a run first team with a QB who I feel is pretty overrated. Dak is a solid starter for sure, but I don’t think he is a top tier QB, nor ever will be. He will have you and down years. I am not sure that offense is good enough to consistently support 2 every week fantasy starters at the WR position, let alone 3. Gallup is going to be boom or bust, IMO.

Johnson on the other hand is in a really good situation to break out with Ben coming back and Juju struggling as a #1. Time will tell if he is good enough to take advantage, but I just think the ceiling for Johnson is considerably higher because of his likely role.
