4th & 15 rule has been tabled.

NFL owners have "tabled" a measure that would have allowed teams a 4th-and-15 conversion attempt in lieu of an onside kick.
The proposal was not going to pass, so it was not voted on. The measure seemed to lack consensus on some of its finer details, but it is expected to be revisited in the future. It is probably too late for 2020, however. Since the NFL is against simply letting teams "declare" an onside kick and allowing a running start, non-surprise onside kicks will continue to have fantastically low conversion rates.

I loved it when they took shit over color rush uniforms because color-blind people couldn't tell one team from the other.

i always thought 4th and 15 would be much easier than an onside kick so i'm glad they're not doing it.

Yeah I didn't mind this initially but the more I think about it the more this would just let the refs fuck with the game throwing dumbass penalties on these attempts. Glad it didn't pass.

I don't love the idea but in typical NFL fashion tried making it with a bunch of caveats and exceptions that would undoubtedly have caused confusion.

Thank God... One less reason for a hands to the face penalty, holding penalty, late hit on the QB penalty, pass interference from the defense to make the conversion a success...

I'd have been OK with the 4th and 15 because the new onside rules made it virtually impossible to convert. I agree go back to what wasn't broken.

It is.

Teams have converted roughly 25% (23% to be accurate) of 4th and 15 plays. Onside kicks have about a 7% success rate. We're talking about tripling, and nearly quadrupling, the success rate of an "onside kick".

Stupid. I'm glad this got tabled.

I don't think they should have ever fucked with the on-side kick rules to begin with. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the old system and the whole "player safety" thing is a bogus argument. I'm glad they scrapped this nonsense tho. They need to quit tinkering and let the players play the game.

Uniforms...I'm sure somebody bought a color rush jersey....Football is still a collision sport...for now...but the owners have slowly, but surely taken more and more away.
