The kid is gonna be so good until the Steelers injure him. When you watch this soap so many times you know whats gonna happen. Hopefully the script gets changed. Good luck Bengals.

injuries are inevitable. The bengals always lose key OL and this can lead to QB injury. To be fair, some of Dalton's injuries came from trying to make tackles after creating a turnover. We can't blame that on dirty play.

It is ironic, though, that in the 2 years Cincinnati was best poised to oust the Steelers in the playoffs, the QB was injured by the Steelers.

If that's not karmic retribution for Mike Brown being a crappy owner, I don't know what is...LOL

There was a really good article some time ago on Akili - an interview with him - on basically how he screwed everything up from the moment he got drafted. There were many weekends where he would fly to Vegas on Friday, and return Saturday night before the game. He admitted that once he got drafted, and paid, he thought he had made it and 100% stopped working.

It's a shame, because the physical tools were there. I don't think he's anywhere near the class of Burrow - but the kid had a great arm, and solid mobility, but came from a more spread offense to the Bengals who didn't do that at the time, and then of course add in not studying etc..etc...

Anyway, the article was really good, and great insight to what he admits to as his failures in not fulfilling his potential as an NFL QB. Not saying he would have been great or anything, but certainly would have been nice to see him putting in the work/effort.

I don't think the Bengals are going to have to worry about that with Burrow. The kid is driven to work, and win.

I was thinking about Akili Smith the other day. He was a good enough high school baseball player to be selected in the 7th round. And he was extremely fast for a qb. But, he wasn't much of a student and the low motivation to study really killed him. He also played for the Bengals during an era where there was probably almost no accountability.

I must admit, I'm finally looking forward to a season.

no andy dalton choking under the evening lights.
no sabatoge from marvin's bad clock management.
no sabatoge from hot headed defenders when we have victory well in hand.

this is the Bengals, and plenty of things could go wrong, but that's true of about 50% of NFL teams, there can only be one champion.

it's the end of may and no one has jumped out of the back of the pickup truck or had a fatal car accident or gotten put in federal prison.

as long as we have people herded into neighborhoods according to their skin tone, some form of prejudice towards races will persist.

There will always be some form of racism because it isn't just taught. Until people understand that Evil is a real thing in this world, and that it comes from a place that isn't just Human - there will always be a false belief that we can eradicate hate/racism/etc...

The fact of the matter is, as much as maybe no one else wants to talk about it, equality is a myth, and certain things will never be achieved. That doesn't mean we stop working towards the common goal, but the realization is: Some people will always have the advantages in life, others will not. Some people will be treated better throughout life, others will not. Some will have the good fortune of being born into a high class family while others will not.

Wait - because 100's of years of racism are Trump's fault? GTFOH.

You want to talk about systemic racism - let's revisit some of the cities throughout America that have been under control of Black Mayers, city councils, etc..etc...for decades, and yet still have some of the highest crime rate, poverty rates, and have done little to NOTHING to solve their issues despite having all kinds of resources at their fingertips. Why is this? It's because it's not about race - it's about POWER.

Until that is better understood, systemically speaking, nothing will ever change at the top. To think that it is one person is simply false, and quite frankly moronic.

And with that - let's keep this at the Bengals sports - there's a politics forum for anyone who wants to delve further into the madness.

there's always another person to blame things on, that's why countries end up collapsing into dictatorships and then have to have a revolution to overthrow the dictatorship as the cycle continues.
