I think they are just looking for a way to gin up excitement for the playoffs.

But I would be fine with just doing the top 16 as well.
Isn't there already plenty of pent up excitement for ANY sports? Playoff basketball doesn't need help with that.

I disagree.

Nuetral site, 2 games vs each opponent and they would have a random draw within each tier of teams?

There will almost certainly be a bracket of death in that scenario.

What if, instead of facing the Magic in the first round, the Bucks end up in a pool with Utah, Houston and Dallas.

Does that seem fair to you? That is a 4, a 6 and a 7 seed. I could easily envision a scenario where a top seed, not having played in months gets tripped up by a tough group draw. I don’t want to see that.

Agree. Part of the reason the NBA went to all 7 game series was to make sure the best teams advance.

I have to admit, my first reaction when I saw that was..."Fuck him. He's being paid millions of dollars to play a fucking game, he's healthy, he should play".

On the other hand, this is a unique situation and I can see his point. Why risk some sort of serious injury when there's no shot a making the playoffs?

Really wouldn't be much different than playing less so young guys can get some run when playing out the string on a season after you've been eliminated from contention.

Agreed and that's why I don't understand bringing anyone back besides the 16 playoff teams

How bout a format that brings back all 30 teams into some sort of tournament? A kind of mini-season tourney so that every team is involved and plays.

For what?

These teams who sucked all year long don't deserve to have a chance at winning anything.

Enjoy your extended vacation. See you in November

from a fn common sense stand point he made shit tons of sense. Obviously he didn’t give a shit about labor history. He basically said don’t just ask for rev sharing in the one year you are going to lose money, let’s look at all the money you have made the last 10 years. The players union is not known for common sense muzh and the owners are idiots. Just don’t tell me, repeatedly, that I misheard somethimg. Then you won’t have to pound so much sand.
was trying to give you benefit of the doubt by saying you misheard. If you, in fact, heard it correctly, you are clueleess when it comes to the CBA. worse, though, was an actual player was this clueless.

Yeah, excellent article. I really liked how he broke down the age groups, etc.
Correct. Isn't to say nothing to fear for the younger people, but definitely not telling us enough how unlikely it is to die if just under 55. Let alone way younger than that.

Not mentioned in the article, but seems vast majority of deaths in OH (and I'd imagine other states) are from nursing homes. Heard it was 70% here.

Obviously that is not good but makes things less dire for general public.

.

That is exactly the right reaction IMO.

Lillard is getting paid $30m a year and he's just had a very cozy 2 month break.

Does this work in other professions too?

Can a doctor refuse a patient because "I didn't spend 9 years in medical school to look at a bruised knee"
Can fire fighters start ignoring calls that aren't immediate life or death?
Can waitresses refuse to work a table if the potential for a huge tip isn't there?

It's do your damn job.

Are you fn stupid? Did you get dropped on your head? You had to have, that’s the only thing that makes sense.

We have to realize you can't compare sports to any other profession. Sports can and should only be compared to sports.

You have to consider your health. If the league say we're going to play 5 regular season games before the playoffs. The Blazers are 4 games out in the loss column. Why would any of them want to play? Imaging tearing an Achilles and missing basically all of next season because you participated in essentially a meaningless game after not playing a real basketball game for 4 months?

What I think the NBA should do if they go to the playoffs plus format to avoid having really bad teams like Washington, Charlotte, and Chicago compete for a playoffs.

Rank the teams 1-16 for the playoffs by record then have 4 different one game play in games type deal.

Portland, New Orleans, San Antonio, and Sacramento are extremely close to Orlando and Brooklyn

Portland vs New Orleans. Winner face Orlando

San Antonio vs Sacramento. Winner Face Brooklyn

Winner of Port/NO vs Orlando and San/Sac vs Brooklyn are the final 2 teams.

I know they'll never do this but this to me is the best option if they're trying to do something where they don't directly in the playoffs.

Can have the other 14 teams locked in the playoffs play 3 preseason type games vs each other while this is happening.
