They are saying Taysom Hill will be the next guy in line. I’m a huge fan. My daughter is high school friends with him. But I don’t see him being the kind of QB like Brees or Teddy.

That would PLUMMET Thomas' value, so agree completely with you, that the next QB will make a difference if the Saints put a RB behind center instead of a passer.

Have a hard time seeing Payton turning the keys over to a guy in his 30s with less than 20 career pass attempts in 2021, but weirder shit has happened in the NFL, so won't say its impossible.

Feels like a waste of a dome stadium if you don't have a good aerial attack, lol

1yr deal, so they'd have to re-sign him if they wanted to go that route.

Next 1-2yrs will be a lot of transitions with these old ass QBs finally retiring/not being able to get it done any more

Payton will probably fix him. Yes.

There's always been a lot there to work with.

No way he's going to just give up on having a passing attack.

Am I the only one that would take Nuk over Thomas in this situation??

He's got the better QB outlook going forward as Kyler is only going to better. He's less than a year older than MT. He's going into a wide-open offense that had the 4th highest pace in the league last year and also has a mediocre (at best) defense. Not to mention the fact that he's more skilled than MT is. Nuk put up elite numbers last season with a coaching staff that is borderline on the spectrum and now he gets Kliff Kingsbury and his wide-open offense going into his 2nd season in the league with a QB who is going into his 2nd season in said offense. I'm taking Nuk over MT going forward in dynasty.

As far as rankings, I'm going....

Barkley
Elliot
Nuk
MT
Cook

Arians turned a 36yo Carson Palmer into an MVP candidate and got a 4500/30 season out of an over-the-hill Kurt Warner. What makes you think Payton, with less recieving talent, will be able to do more with Jameis than Bruce could?

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

I personally would not follow that line of reasoning.
We have seen some rookie QB come out strong only to regress.
We have seen successful college coaches come in and fail horribly. (Saban, Kelly, even Carroll had to fail in his first NFL stint).
No one can know whether Nuk will get the lion's share of targets on a new team with a new OC.
Is Nuk elite? Sure he is!
Too many question marks for me.

That's fair. I know I'm a bit bullish on the Kyler/Kliff combo, but they showed a ton of promise last year. I see big things coming for that offense. And I think there's absolutely no way Nuk doesn't get the bulk of the targets there especially when they went out of their way to trade for him... and he's a top 3 WR in the NFL haha.

What? By your own numbers above Winston lead the league in passing and was 2nd in TDs with Bruce. 5100/33.

It wouldn't be just one year with him either.

This kind of makes my point for me. I don't think Payton will be able to do with Jameis what Arians was able to do.

He did turn Jamies into a stat compiling machine, but he was also extremely inaccurate and they threw A TON. They lead the league in passing attempts last season and were 4th in '18 while completion % was 25th and 18th respectively. The Saints have been middle of the pack as far as attempts the past 2 seasons while leading the league in comp % both years.

I don't think, if Jameis even ends up staying in NO, that he has the accuracy/consistency to give MT what Drew Brees has afforded him throughout his career thus far. Also have to figure the fact that MT is pretty clearly the top target in NO while TB had 2 top 12 options for Jameis last year. And if NO actually sticks with Taysom Hill like Payton said (could obviously just be coach-speak) then MT is even more fucked going forward.
