Saw that also. I'm pretty sure the assumption was Gallup and a 1st, so because of that I say no. Call me crazy, but I'd go Cooper for Adams straight up. Would cost us the $10M cap hit for Cooper too, but that's already a sunk cost. I'd be betting that we could get by with Gallup and Lamb and then bring in a #3. The upgrade on defense, which is the weaker part of the team, would be worth it for me and getting rid of Cooper's salary makes Adams an easy fit and actually frees up a little salary cap
I like this idea, but I'd think the Jets would want more than Coop.

Anyone have thoughts on the idea of Gallup going to the Jets for Adams? I'm sure we would have to throw in a pick as well, but for me, even though I really like Gallup, that is something I would do. Adams is an absolute monster
I wouldn't do that trade.

I agree. Gallup is damn good and worth more than a 3rd rounder. I think Gallup may be under contract fo two more seasons. Gallup was a steal as a 3rd round pick. It would be a assinine to include him in a trade
Not if he were the 1st, not the 3rd. I do like the idea of Cooper for Adams straight up more though

I like that too. While Cooper is a #1 WR. To me he will never a top #1 WR.
Adams could fix a lot of what ails our Defense.
Meanwhile our offense would still do well missing Cooper. (yes I am assuming Lamb doesnt bust)

I like Cooper, but I like Gallup too, plus he's not missing in action for some plays. Gallup and CeeDee will make for a very nice WR combo.

Gallop drops too many passes. He needs to improve.

I value great safety play more than most. Some safties can transform defenses from good to great. Woodson made 90s defenses great. I admit I was lukewarm at adding Adam's and giving up 1st and 3rd and then paying him.. now I think I would rather give up those picks and pay him. Just too much invested on offense when it comes to the Cap. Adam's would be a difference maker. He is what we need in secondary. He has terrorized the Eagles,Giants and Skins whenever he has played against them. That is also a plus. Get this deal done now. Sick of watching the complete trash we got at safety year after year. Adam's is a stud

Most players aren't perfect but Isn't it reasonable to expect Gallup will improve in year 3? Plus, he already seems to be a real good player but I do think he was also a little inconsistent and felt a few times he might have ran the wrong pattern or at least missed his read. But one thing I like better about Gallup than Cooper is that he has shown the ability to make tough plays in traffic and come down with 50/50 balls. Plus Cooper is known for dropping too many passes also. He isn't near as good as Cooper right now but I'd rather have Gallup at $1M per year plus an All Pro type guy on defense than Cooper at $20M per year in a salary cap world. If we were to make this hypothetical trade we would also need to acquire another WR IMO because we don't know what Lamb will be yet.

I thought that the entire receiving corp and TE dropped to many balls last season. That 2nd Eagle game was a disgraceful performance especially by Coop. Those dropped passes killed drives and lost the game. Now you go look at Lambs tape and watch how he snatches the ball with his hands. Very few drops. The only thing I dont know about Lamb is the route running, but damn the drop rate and RAC is elite. He got some serious confidence and skills and he reminds me of a hybrid Irvin/Rice.. I thought he was easily better than Ruggs and Jeudy . Lamb certainly has got that "it" factor. I never thought he would drop out of the top 10.

Can you imagine the carnage that Adam's would cause if he played with all of the players we got in the front seven? Adam's would be our next Woodson. He can cover tight ends. He is great at attacking the LOS. I am all in. I have my doubts that this actually happens though. Adam's would bring much needed leadership to the secondary and defense. He can also back up any trash talking.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports there "isn't any traction" on a Jamal Adams trade to the Cowboys.
The Cowboys were known to be interested in Adams at last year's trade deadline, and because of that they have long been rumored as suitors for Adams anytime something strains the relationship between he and the Jets. Due to COVID-19 -- or other reasons unknown -- the Jets have to this point been unwilling to extend Adams' contract, something he very much wants. But GM Joe Douglas hasn't shown any interest in moving his superstar defensive centerpiece.
