Oh. I thought it was supposed to be a clever play on words. And apparently I can't freakin' spell...any idea on how to correct the title? *Sigh*
How did they not get a trade done. Even if they only got a 6th round pick for him, they could have traded for something.
And the Patriots say thank you.
if he was traded we would have to agree to whatever portion of his 17 million the other team was unwilling to pay.
so, if the other team only wants to pay him 7 million, we would have to pay the other 10 million.
by releasing Dalton, this is not our problem anymore, it's Dalton's agents problem.

Cam Newton is still unsigned and Winston just signed a one year contract as a low paid backup.
Dalton was cut because there was absolutely no trade market for him.
I have a hunch that Bengals fans will look back fondly on Andy Dalton. He was the qb of the franchise during a period of time that they had more sustained success than they have had at any other time in the history of the franchise. I also can't remember a single negative comment or behavior that put the organization or city in bad light (I'm not talking about his performance here). And, my bet is that he'll continue to give the city money through his foundation and refuse to say bad things about Mike Brown and the Brown family. Cincinnatians are suckers for athletes that don't have opinions.
It's amazing to me now how much fans still like Boomer Esiason. I remember sitting at games before the super bowl season and about 2 years after the super bowl season and fans wanted to run the guy out of town. People clamored for Donald Hollas for gods sakes. And there really wasn't any outrage when the franchise selected David Klingler.... Confursion maybe, but now outrage. And Boomer hasn't really stopped telling the truth about the Bengals or the Brown family since he left.... Sometimes in a somewhat mean way. Yet, people behave like he's part of the fabric of Cincinnati. Memories are weird is my point.

Well, I mean - who can blame you. Watching us set up those confrontations at the Dayton Mall were worth it! (and thanks for the fix)I fixed it.
Believe it or not, I am still a moderator on this page. Though, I'm not sure I've moderated anything in a long time.
Agreed. I think they tried, but it's hard to get a team to give you anything with all the interesting free agents that were available. The only move that didn't make any sense was Chicago giving up something for Big Dick Nick.
Nick Foles to the Bears only worked because it was the perfect set of circumstances. He played for their HC, he knows the system, the team is in a win now mode, and Foles can function in either a starter or backup role.
It started last year with Tannehill (former high 1st rd pick and solid resume) taking a backup role. There's not a huge market for veteran starting QBs right now.
IF they were going to trade Dalton - last year was the year to do it before the deadline and then roll with Finely the rest of the way leading to Burrow.
Once they held on to him, it was going to be apparent he would be cut with the amount of QB's that were going to be on the market.
I think if Jax will give him a shot to start - he ends up there, but I still like N.E. as well. BB has always liked Dalton, IIRC.
Well, it has to either be an all-in tank for Trevor, or he's going to think he's smart enough to win without TB. If I were wagering - I'd bet on the latter. I don't think it would sit well for him to try, and end up losing, and then having people question if the last decade+ was more about TB than it was about BB.I think Belicheck might be tempted to tank a little this year. He can redesign that roster and rebuild in a radical way given his commitment from ownership.
