There is an article at NFL.com that indicates we were in the Trent Williams sweepstakes until SF stepped-in with more to offer Ron Rivera and the Redskins. McVay wanted to move Williams to guard and we get to face him twice a year now. This deal should have been done a year ago when Williams was nearly released and before the Redskins hired Rivera. Another case of McSnead waiting too long I believe. But we got a better version with Colbert, Edwards, and now the big dog from Clemson.

Trent wasn’t worth it. The guy can’t stay healthy and is lucky to play half the season. Let the 49ers waste their money trying to sign him to an extension. I’d be more upset if we did land him.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ti...s-statements-on-Wallace-Simpson-Anchrum-35435

CLEMSON HEAD COACH DABO SWINNEY: “Tremayne Anchrum was a very underrated guy in this draft. He has been a four-year starter out of position and has played against the best of the best from Chase Young to Clelin Ferrell and everybody in between. He’s incredibly smart, very athletic, strong, and has a great football I.Q. He is another guy that’s going to change a locker room from a leadership standpoint. He is a captain and a graduate. He brings a lot of versatility to the offensive line because he can play tackle, obviously, because he started for us at this level for four years, but I think he’s got a chance to really make a really good guard at the next level.”

OFFENSIVE LINE COACH ROBBIE CALDWELL: “Tremayne can play several positions and is going to bring an intelligence factor to the Rams. He can play left or right and also has the ability and the knowledge to play center as well.”

It seems we’re getting Olineman that can play multiple positions. The UDFA from Az St played LT as well before getting moved to center.

Yea I am arriving at the same conclusion after seeing all of the analyses BattleLyon. Much of what has been written post-draft basically states that we got a number of great picks with excellent talent in a wise use of our draft capital and our UDFA list was exceptional. So our scouting staff really doing a snooper job seeing the condition of our draft capital and I believe we had a better draft this time than Belicheat and the Patriots. So I may have to eat crow on my comments about McSnead and my perception of what the hell they were doing this year.

Still have a few questions, maybe you, Retro or another can fill me in on the first one.

Not sure about the TE pick. SJ says he's a quality pick, just liked the guy from Stanford that was still on the board, bigger, better hands and from a better program.

:wtf2:

Anybody got some insight on that one?

That fourth round TE pick was the bad pick that many pundits are labeling that move with that tone. Many thought we would take Biadasz the Center. We don't need a TE and if they wanted another TE, the kid from Stanford was the better pick of the two and the dude we took was a clear head-scratcher.

Well every once in awhile, all the pundits are wrong and a star is found, ala TB, so I guess you never know....

Some question marks like any draft but I’m having a hard time disliking this class. This is what happens when you really do your homework and get BPA/value with just about every pick. if the Olineman from Clemson comes in strong and is a starter by year end then you probably have a special draft class.

TE from Purdue has the whole package to be a good TE. Has had drop issues in the past but he won’t have any pressure on him this year. Clearly they wanted to load up on weapons for Goff and are trusting the development of young Olineman.

Another article has been released from Ramswire indicating we should have taken Ezra Cleveland in the fourth round instead if the Purdue TE. The author suggests our O-line crappiness was not addressed in the draft even with the Anchum selection and the Cabral kid in the UDFA list. This same author predicts we are going to regret not taking an available O-line talent because the Rams are xpecting different results from the same players. Well, we shall see and if the author is right, then we will both get to say " I told you so". If not than crow will be on the menu in huge portions.

Let me tell you from someone that watched every single one of his games besides last year Miami game (I was over Willie Taggert and after that game he got fired)...

Cam will carry 1-2 players with him after initial contact for another 2-3 yards. He’s a beast. Doesn’t have that Dalvin Cook homerun speed But Cam is close. Not many RBs have Cookie’s breakaway speed.

Well, it wouldn't have been instead of the Purdue TE, who was selected in the 4th Round with the 136th Pick RR. It would have been instead of the the FSU RB we selected with our first pick in the 2nd Round with the 56th pick.

Ezra Cleveland was selected in the 2nd Round with the 58th pick. I would have been happy with Boise State Tackle, even though he competed in the MWC, but I too am very happy with the FSU RB Akers who competed in the P5 ACC! Cam is a beast, he rushed LY for over 1K yards with one of the worst FSU OL's in a very, very long time. Dude just doesn't go down with contact and against P5 competition.

Now if there was a Guard or Center rated as high as Cleveland in Round 2, pick 56, I'd be right there with ya my brother! Still be hard knowing we had Cam at that spot and passed on him when our plan is developing those Offensive linemen we currently have on the team for the last year or two.

Losing just the threat of Todd in the backfield had to be addressed, and addressed early on in the draft...

The only pick I think they should’ve done different is the 4th round.

The weakest part of the OL is at C by far, and they should’ve drafted Biadasz. A 4th Center in a very weak position was needed more than a 4th TE when they have 3 solid TE’s already (Mundt for his blocking and Higbee and Everett for receiving ).

I get they are preparing for Everett or Mundt’s pending FA next year, but then address the TE position next year when it is needed.

Center needed to be addressed this year. I know there is talk of the FA OL possibly playing center, but that’s a big question mark.

I can agree with this. Be interesting to watch both and see how it works out
