if im paying 16 mil a year i expect double digit sacks.....at least.

What would you expect from your blocker in front of him if he was on the opposition? Would you be ok with his average two/per sacks on your QB?

I'd pay Trent 16 but not 20. His agent must be on drugs if he thinks Trent was ever going to get 20 mil.

TW witnessed Cousins landing a 3 year guaranteed contract. I'm thinking its something similar (not money wise) that he would likely command after listening to his agent. I do not think its something he will accomplish.

So, this page 2020 NFL Mock Draft Central - NFL.com has 8 mocks (including 1 from Chollie Casserly). In them, Simmons goes 10, 4, 7, 6, 7, 11, 9, and 8. And in the 1 he goes 4th in, Tua is the 5th pick. If we trade down to 5, and Tua is there, we do what? Yes, trade down again for another bushel of assets. Jimmy Johnson would congratulate us - for the first time.

There MIGHT be 10-15 players per draft that become starter level players right away. Of those 10-15 players, perhaps a 3rd will be high impact...pro-bowl, all pro type of change agents. All others, those who make an NFL rosters, are role players of some degree or the other.

Why is this important? Well, because trading down offers more choices, but less opportunity to garner NFL gold. (Note that I never said where those 10-15 players are selected). Age ( and cost) is generally the main factor that determines whether or not there's a move to replace the heretofore veteran presence at a given position.
If Washington decides to trade down below #5, they may gain a starter, perhaps two, but the odds that one or both are high impact guys fades dramatically. Think about that before jumping on the trade down bandwagon.

To go along with your point...isn't the goal of every NFL team to get as many great players as possible? I would think so. That's why getting a top 3 pick is so very valuable. You don't lose a bunch of games to get a lot of very good players, you lose to get as many start/impact players as possible. Trading could be great for depth but also very risky.

At this point, Rivera seems pretty adamant Chase is the guy. Rivera is a smart guy don't let upper management overthink this. Take the elite pass rusher and game changer.

Rivera also knows this is a poker game fellas. Don't take everything he says now as gospel. Before, he had talked about player versatility - which is what Simmons has the patent on - it's legally notarized and everything - and Rivera said player versatility is going to be the key to the Skins defense. He said players who can play multiple positions are like gold.

Btw, from everything I've heard, this is a great draft. There's going to be more studs than usual. Keep that in mind. That's a reason it's a huger (even if that's not a word) benefit to have multiple 1st and 2nd round picks in this draft.

There was a point not too long ago, that we (this board) engaged in conversation about the lack of "game changers" on this team. To date, we have only 3 possible players of this type. TMac, Guice, and Haskins, two we aren't convinced of, the other, flashed last year but still needs time to be that known threat.

By most accounts Young is,a generational player, who commands attention from the opposition. He, until proven to be less than what he's projected to be, instantly makes every player on that front 7 better than what they have been because of that extra attention.
You're right, don't over-think this, go for the game changer and be satisfied with having one great player instead of two good ones.

Call me crazy... but I wouldn't be surprised if Miami trades up to #1 to get Tua.

Hellooooo Crazy!:D

Remember it wasn't that long ago when the most popular theme was "Tanking for Tua." I wouldn't be surprised by that move either but as a DC supporter, it changes nothing. Washington then takes Young, and we watch as there are moves at the 3 and 4 spots to get Burrow or he falls to Cincy at 5.

Let me jump ahead of things here to give cause to my previous post.
Prior to last season Burrow was projected to be the 6th QB on draft boards. This means that his 2019 season was another in a long line of possible one hit wonders. Think of a previous one hit LSU wonder Jamarcus Russell. He could also be the next great thing, but if we're honest, we already have our own version of the one hit wonders in Dwayne Haskins!

It seems to me that giving up two (Haskins/Young) to get one (Burrow) is counterproductive at best.
