Todd Grantham has been UGA's punching bag ever since he bolted to Louisville. I look forward to another year of facing 3rd and Grantham.

Florida finishes 3rd in the East.

Who do you have finishing in 2nd place?

Tennessee finished off the season really strong last season. I have them winning 10 games(including bowl game), and one of those wins being Florida.

I have Florida losing to UGA, Tennessee and LSU. I have Tennessee losing to UGA, Bama and Oklahoma(wouldn't matter in the conference standings, but who I have as one of their 3 losses)

Seems like the perfect year for Missouri to win it.

UF goes 11-1 with a close loss to UGA. UGA loses to Bama and some random conference team...maybe Auburn. UF wins the East.

Obviously Gators are going to say Gators, Dawgs will say Dawgs. From this and other articles, here's my thoughts:
  • UGA is far more talented than Florida ... it simply is. Mullen is still struggling with recruiting. The difference between 1-3 classes, and just being in the top 10 is huge. Dawg fans know this from having coach Richt getting us in the top 10 almost all the time, and it just wasn't good enough.
  • UF has the better schedule. Dawgs have to go to Tuscaloosa, UF goes to Ole Miss. We have Auburn, UF has what I believe will be a depleted LSU squad. Nod to UF there.
  • UF lost a lot last year, too. They lost a number of their best WRs, and they lost a lot on the D line.
  • Every article I read talks about UGA's OL issues. One one hand I get it ... we are losing three starters to the NFL, including our two tackles that will go in the 1st and 2nd rounds. We lost Mayes to transfer. And, we lost our OL coach. But, no one in the country has been recruiting OL like UGA has the past 5 years. Our returning OL have extensive experience, two of whom were starters at various points during their careers. Our C started all 14 games last year. Everyone else played over 100 snaps and most were highly regarded 4* and 5* coming out of high school. Matt Luke is considered one of the better OL coaches around. So, I get why people point at our OL, but it is the least of our worries.
  • Our D will be filthy ... we had 23 defensive players play over 100 snaps. We return 8 of 11, and there won't be a better D in the country. We were the top D last year, will be again this year.
  • UF has an edge at QB, with Trask being more than serviceable if he continues to grow like he did last year. UGA got the best grad transfer they could get, and he's good. But, lack of a Spring doesn't help. He will have way better tools around him than he did at Wake, and he has extensive experience, so it's not like we are starting a Freshman. But, UF is more settled here, with UGA having the higher ceiling, but more uncertainty.
  • We have a new OC, but he is well respected and has run exciting and producing offenses. At the end of the day, anyone will be a step up from our OC last year, and it would be hard for our O to worse than last year. We are better at WR, our OL will be fine, our RB room is full of studs, and our QB could be better than "bad Jake" from last year. I say that as a huge Fromm fan ... he simply did not play well last year. At the end of the day, our O should be much better, especially if Smart will take the reins off and let the OC do his thing.
  • It will come down to Jax, like usual. We may lose to Bama, but we won't lose to anyone else. We get UTjr, Auburn, and Vadny at home, play UK, Missouri and Cocks away.

UF lost 4 talented veteran WRs. UF returns 3 talented veteran WRs (yes the Wr corps was that deep last year) plus the top Tae in America.

On the DL UF list both of its DE’s. That’s probably the 2nd deepest position on the team. UF returns veterans Carter, Bogle, Diabete there plus former UGA starter Cox is now available after redshirting last year. DE is n great shape. Zuniga missed all but the first couple games last year.

UF is actually a very veteran team this season.

FYI ... Cox wasn't a starter at UGa. There is a reason he left and transferred to UF. I am not saying he isn't good. He certainly has the potential to be good. But, he left UGA because he was losing ground to better players and his attitude wasn't good about it. He's a good player, and if his attitude is adjusted at UF you will be glad to have him. We shall see.

He should have been gone when he took a swing at Deandre Walker.
